Y'all, it's time to talk about Bill Daley.

As of January 25th, a Sun-Times poll showed Daley taking 12.1% of the vote with 25% of voters still undecided. It seems certain that Bill Daley will wind up in the mayoral runoff. You should be concerned.
Daley's number one priority is crime. In fact, it's the only issue he his campaign has taken the to lay out a full policy platform on. Unsurprisingly, Daley wants to address crime by throwing even more resources toward policing and incarceration.
Daley & Mendoza are the only candidates supporting Rahm's $95 million dollar police academy. When Daley speaks about the academy, it's clear that his stance is not some misguided position about curbing police violence but about increasing police effectiveness, aka more arrests.
Chicago currently has 29,000 security cameras, it's the most surveilled city in the nation. And yet Bill Daley says he wants more cameras, he would put a "camera on every block in this city", not just in high crime areas but across Chicago.
In addition to dramatically increasing the number of security cameras operated by the city of Chicago (we already have 29,000 in Chicago which more than any other US city), Daley would provide financial incentives for private bossinesses to install security cameras.
Daley wants drones for CPD and hasn't said how he'd use them.

Last year, the @ACLUofIL, @lucyparsonslabs & @NLGChicago helped stoped a bill in Springfield that would have allowed police to use drones equipped with facial recognition software above crowds of 100 or more.
Daley is totally against civilian oversight of the Chicago police department. He says that oversight should remain under the control of the mayor's office.
This position is particularly laughable considering that Daley wouldn't even be running for mayor had Rahm not been directly implicated in the cover up of Laquan McDonald.

The only other candidate opposing civilian oversight of CPD is Garry McCarthy.
Daley constantly engages in fear mongering regarding violent crime while failing to cite factual information.

January saw the:
- fewest shootings in 5 years.
- fewest murders in 10 years.
- fewest burglaries & robberies in 20 years.

Crime is without a doubt going down.
Daley is focused on guns & has been peddling the idea that prosecutors and judges have been turning a blind eye to to possession cases, another lie.

Speaking at the City Club last month, State's Attorney Foxx said UUW was the top prosecuted crime & conviction rates were up 30%.
For those that don't know, UUW mean: unlawful use of a weapon. It may be the most misleading charge on the books. It simply means that you've been caught with a gun without a license.
For being so concerned about guns, Daley (intentionally?) incorrectly says the "possession of a gun in IL is a misdemeanor unless it's been used in a crime or is stolen" in this interview:stitcher.com/podcast/mike-f… This is false, unlicensed possession of a gun in public is a felony.
Daley explicitly blames "mostly young men, 18-27, men of color" for the cities crime problems while ignoring how his brother, father and buddy Rahm Emanuel's consistent removal of resources and over policing have destabilized those communities for decades.
Daley supports closing more public schools even after Rahm Emanuel already closed 50 in 2013.

Daley says he would leave decision to Neighborhood School Councils but in this interview keeps referencing the closure of 13 schools, that sounds like a plan: stitcher.com/podcast/mike-f…
Daley wants even more police on the streets of Chicago even though (outside of brief spike in 2016) crime has been dropping across the city for years,
In addition to hiring more police, Bill Daley is a big proponent of community policing which amounts to little more than surveilling your neighbors and buddying up with the cops, the same ones that keep arresting, assaulting and killing our neighbors.
Daley says he won't raise property tax but won't say what programs he'll inevitably cut to meet the budget gap. Considering Daley's call for more police, surveillance and drones, that money won't be coming from CPD's absurd $1.5 billion operating budget.
Daley is getting lots of funding from sources outside of Chicago and there will be a flood of out of state corporate money if he finds himself in a run off. People want Daley on the 5th floor of city hall, they're just not from here.
Daley won't release his tax returns and says he'll only do it AFTER he gets elected. Daley has a long history of shady dealings, we should get to see this information.
Daley's shadiest deal was the sale of Chicago's parking meters. Bill advised his brother Richard to sell Chicago's parking meters, a deal the city is still paying the price for.
Bill Daley advised Richard to sell Chicago's parking meters to a new venture called Chicago Parking Meter LLC for $1.6 billion. CPM was made up of three investment firms including Morgan Stanley, their public finance chief was William Daley Jr, Bill Daley's son......
Now that Bill Daley is running for mayor, he says the deal was a mistake. Fran Spielman asked Daley why he didn't tell his brother not sell Chicago's parking meters, his answer? "Because I wasn't running for mayor at the time."
While Chicago's city council is rife with corruption, does anyone actually trust a Daley to reform and restructure it? Daley is proposing to shrink Chicago's city council from 50 to 15 alderman. Coming from Daley, this just seems like a power grab & consolidation of power.
Driving Rahm Emanuel out office was an amazing feat but in doing so we have a responsibility to make sure that power vacuum is not filled by someone even worse, Bill Daley is that someone.

We have 24 days to destroy Daley, let's do this.
