STREAMING NOW: Northam says he never bought yearbook and is not in picture and never saw it before yesterday. "In the hours since my statement yesterday I reflected with my family and classmates" and thinks it's not him.
Oh man - Northam cites a different time he wore blackface as an excuse for his belief why this time he didn't!
Northam is messed up if he thinks anyone with a brain believes this.
This statement gives the finger to basically every leading Democrat. Trump is absolutely going to talk about this on Tuesday.

The president @realDonaldTrump should in the SOTU take on the Congress itself. They are the reason there isn’t wall funding and they are the reason the government is ticking down to a shutdown.
The president should be the representative of the people against the unpopular Congress. Hold them to account for their failure.
The American people want illegal immigration controlled and the violent lawlessness at the border brought to an end. The president proposed a wall. The American people elected him to build it.

1) Donald Trump’s press conference Wednesday, and the responses to it, are an important and perhaps historic moment, beyond the controversy. It made irrevocably clear that Trump intends to rule as an authoritarian, and his followers want that. Ridiculously long thread follows.
2) @ThePlumLine has already limned the authoritarian nature of the behavior of both Trump and his minions in searing detail. I urge everyone to read this thread so they can understand the dynamic at work here.

3) This is hardly the first time Trump has attempted to assert that his version of reality is the only legitimate one, and that all others are “fake.” It’s been a trademark of his tenure. He uses the gap as a wedge to drive his followers closer.

(THREAD) When my son was in Gr 10 he brough home, To Kill a Mockingbird. I was angry -my child, was reading a text of a past romanticized by some, even tho it was riddled with #racism. I wondered how many texts he would read that looked like him. But he had to read that- why?
I had asked many times for a reading list of books theyd have in their English class. I asked if the texts looked like them, reflected their experiences bc #IdentityMatters. I never could get an answer. Replies included, it was a #Classic but y'all know #Classics aint #Neutral
Of course, the response when we have these convos - "Y'all want to Censor...". Funny how "#freeSpeech" and "#censorship" always come up when issues of #equity are being discussed. That our children shouldn't be exposed to #racism and #trauma they live EVERY. SINGLE. DAY

1. Let’s break-down why @prose4321’s “I’m an AIDS historian!” rant is one of the worst (and most dangerous) AIDS op-eds ever to appear in the NYT. I hope we direct most of our anger at the Times, which doubled down on its history of promoting gays who scold gays.
2. Patrick’s subsequent meltdown on Twitter revealed the kid behind the future book deal as he lashed out at actual AIDS historians and experts he’d never heard of before yesterday. We all got schooled in his misunderstood millennial wisdom.
3. He gets an A for knowing what thrills the Times editorial staff – the bad-gays-had-it-coming morality tale as told to you by an actual gay – the brave truth-teller confronting our dirty laundry for our own good.
