Isn't it funny how wealthy all the 'individuals who are involved in the fight against climate change are'.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence.
Bob's benefactor, Jeremy Grantham, only funds the institute that bears his name at the LSE and Imperial out of the goodness of his heart...

... Not in the interests of his portfolio.

Billionaires are known for their generosity. That's how they got rich.
Bob's boss, Nick Stern, out of sheer goodwill and the desire to save the planet, has developed financial interests in consulting firms.
Similarly, Gummer's predecessor at the CCC, Adair Turner is so concerned about climate change that he heats the swimming pool at his second home -- a mansion in Kensington -- using solar power.
Turner was so generous and concerned for the welfare of the planet that he sat on the advisory board of Climate Change Capital -- a firm that only coincidentally stood to gain vast amounts of money from climate policy.
Turner was so concerned for justice in the world that, as chair of the ESRC, he established the publicly-funded part of the Grantham Institute -- the CCCEP -- in order to supply the CCC with the "research" it needed to "advise" Parliament. ...
It was only a coincidence that Turner then left the ESRC to chair the CCC, and that Stern was then appointed chair of the CCCEP/Grantham inst.

They were both trying really hard to save the planet. And the riches and privileges their positions have given them are accidental.
Bob is not at all cross that Stern and Turner's project was (rightly) accused of fraudulently claiming £9m public money in grants via the ESRC, which Turner chaired... It's not bitterness driving Bob. He is only concerned for the planet.
Only planet-hating, science-denying cynics would argue that using public funds to elevate technocrats' profiles and policy-relevant research, leveraged with billionaires' cash, is something worthy of closer scrutiny.
