Liam Neeson is always talking about how #MeToo is pretty much a witchhunt against rich famous White men like himself.

But when his friend shared a story of being raped by a Black man, he not only believed her, he decided he was gonna murder all Black men as revenge for the rape.
I initially was gonna say how his dismissing #MeToo but then wanting to avenge this rape this was inconsistent, but it's actually not.
It's completely consistent with the racist mythology of the Black man as rapist from whom the White woman needs protecting that has supported lynching throughout the history of this country to the modern day.

If this is the standard, I'm gonna file $$$ million lawsuits on behalf of my teenage clients whose names & mug shots are plastered across newspapers w/ zero consideration as to whether they're guilty of a crime, often when they're not even charged w/ one.

And not just mug shots, newspapers will publish photos of my teenager clients captured from store or subway video surveillance, people's cell phones etc.

All in the context of criminal investigations. All highly prejudicial.
But when kids are arrested and it is their mug shots that get printed in the newspaper, this is more devastating than anything, because nothing more clearly connotes criminality.

But someone who is arrested and charged with a crime is guilty of nothing.

Unbelievable.

If one of my clients did this, they would be immediately arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat.
Oh yeah and incarcerated, because being charged with a new offense is a violation of one's bail conditions.
Oh and hey, there's also that little matter of the gag order.

It's ironic that Australia has no Bill of Rights, but criminal defendants are probably afforded more protections and receive fairer treatment there than they do in the US, where the rights guaranteed criminal defendants under the Constitution are considered sacrosanct.
Not that the Australian criminal justice system is any sort of model - Aboriginal Australians are vastly over-represented. They are some 30% of the jail/prison population, yet make up under 5% of the population.
And the juvenile justice system is horrific. 63% of young people incarcerated in Australia are Aboriginal.

There is something off about the Liam Neeson story. Is it the unidentified woman? His offering up it up so randomly? The bizarre details of his week long hunt hoping an innocent black man will attack him. I don't know. But if a #metoo story emerges for him I won't be surprised
The woman was someone he was living with it seems as he went out every night & she asked him where he was going. So a girlfriend or a housemate. This will narrow down the number of people it could be considerably & could even identify her to those who know him well

Is it seriously necessary to explain this? Here, let me try the Socratic method: ask yourself what would happen to the makers of a comparable ad encouraging blacks to avoid crime or Muslims to avoid terrorism.
Nothing wrong with the messages in any of those ads, right? Of COURSE men shouldn't be bullies, blacks shouldn't be criminals, and Muslims shouldn't be terrorists. Who could object to such positive and socially responsible messaging? What law-abiding soul would feel insulted?
Naturally, we all know the pillars of Heaven would be shaken by the outrage if any such collective insinuation of guilt was made about any group except men, and the Gillette ad is carefully designed to make it look like white men specifically are the problem.

There is a racial divide on social media regarding #SurvivingRKelly
Most black folks I know have posted about the docuseries in the last few days (thankfully black people in my networks are expressing support of the victims of sexual abuse & coercion though their posts suggest to me that is not the case with their entire friends network)
In contrast, nearly all white folks I know are not even acknowledging the docuseries, the #RKelly conversation, nothing. This divide/contrast reminds me that white people are not required to know what’s happening to and among black folks.

#MeToo allegations are coming out. Perhaps very few of of them are outright lies. Some of them are completely true. But most are selective representations of reality. It's worse than useless when a story is stripped of its context. #MeTooIndia (1/n)
Women are running amok. But even feminist female detectives who investigate rape cases think 50-90% of the allegations are false. They've studied this in different parts of the world. There's no place where at least half the allegations aren't false. #MeToo #MeTooIndia (2/n)

Ask yourself this: If thousands of Black Men gathered in a public place with torches, some in military style gear, marched and screamed death to whites, would Republicans scream free speech?
Would they be very fine people? Would police watch while they attacked people & do nada?
Would they have been allowed to beat white men until they’re faces were covered in blood and walk away unscathed?
Would any black man be allowed to punch white women & ram through a crowd with his car, killing 1 and injuring many, be granted a permit for round 2?
Would a black man who was beating his wife be defended by the WH COS as a fine man? If blacks gathered at rallies and threatened the press and screamed hateful rhetoric, that’s ok? If I started a non-profit to increase AR15 ownership by black & Latin men by 10M that’d cool?
