I think this piece is accurate in the extremely narrow sense that there wasn’t a widespread hashtag but fails as cultural commentary.

A quick trip down memory lane to remind us what the conversation was related to #Kavanaugh & #MeToo back then.…
So, first off, Faludi seems right that there wasn’t a huge #BelieveAllWomen phenomena, although “believe all women” was bantered about by some.

But this ignores the rush to believe women without or before evidence in a way that has clear political goals.
Instead of Ford - whose allegations clearly split the country in terms of their credibility - let’s focus on Julie Swetnick, once represented by Michael Avenatti. Her testimony was what started the “gang rape” narrative.

A lot’s been written about the double standard in how the media/liberals have responded to the Biden/Kavanaugh allegations. But here's a thread laying out just how pervasive that double standard really is.

Here’s a list of the 50 biggest hypocrites:

“I believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. My heart broke watching her testify. She’s a hero – brave, compelling, credible”…

“The vice president’s answers were credible and convincing.”…

“I believe her. Many, many, many Americans believe her."…

“Sen. Schumer believes that Joe Biden’s answer has been sufficient and will work as hard as he can to make sure Joe Biden defeats Donald Trump...”…

THREAD: Stacey Abrams is a #MeToo hypocrite.

As the self-proclaimed governor of Georgia joins Joe Biden on MSNBC tonight, her blatantly political dismissal of Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations proves one thing...…
Abrams is a ‘Me Too’ hypocrite who puts her own political ambitions ahead of survivors.

Actively campaigning to be Biden’s running mate, Abrams has been more than happy to ditch her “believe survivors” principles even amid growing corroboration of Tara Reade’s story.
Abrams’ crass dismissal of Tara Reade and support for Joe Biden simply cannot be reconciled with her relatively recent statements about believing and trusting women who level allegations of sexual assault:

I went through the Twitter accounts of 35 Democrats who have endorsed Joe Biden since Tara Reade came forward with her accusation on March 25. Compare what they had to say about Kavanaugh and #MeToo to their silence now.…
Some highlights:

@SpeakerPelosi: "We must #BelieveSurvivors"

@PramilaJayapal: "@JoeBiden is not answering the question about #MeToo Or is his answer 'get men involved'?"

@SenatorBaldwin (potential VP pick?): "Believe women."
.@senwarren: "Many survivors of sexual assault choose not to speak out, for a thousand different reasons. But when they do, they deserve to be heard."

And perhaps most stunning, @RepKatiePorter: "We must take *all* claims of sexual assault seriously regardless of party."

5 years ago, I was a Nanny in a man's home. He was married but that did not stop him from drugging me & entering my room & raping me. It was on Friday the 13th & the day before Valentines Day. He went out to dinner the next day to celebrate V-day w/ his wife. #IBelieveTaraReade
That whole week he was hostile & threatening to me. Friday one week after it happened. He spent 2 hours stomping above my bedroom (He designed the home). He only stopped when I turned my light on. I was terrified for my life.
The next day, to disarm him, because I was so afraid, I acted like everything was normal. At the end of the day, I collected my pay for the week & that evening when I was off work, I left for good.

On the anniversary of Kavanaugh’s confirmation, I'm sharing some video & photos I took that day outside #SCOTUS where thousands gathered to protest.
We lost that day. #KavanaughLied.

As the apologies roll in from Al Mohler and everyone else caught sweeping abuse allegations under the rug, let’s take a moment and remember *all* the survivors that spoke up bravely for years.
Every apology I have read thus far honors @R_Denhollander—and to be sure, Rachael deserves that honor. But let’s reflect on the fact that it took *Rachael Denhollander* to get these men and pastors to pay attention.
It took probably the most picture-perfect survivor—she’s homeschooled, conservative, evangelical, complementarian, white, married to a man, highly educated, and the owner of a massive (and absolutely deserved) platform because of her high-profile confrontation of Larry Nassar—

Real talk: The moment ONE victim comes forward with a credible allegation that they have been sexually assaulted, an investigation must be opened into what happened. #FairfaxResign #BelieveSurvivors #MeToo
Appropriate measures must taken regarding the alleged perpetrator's behavior, including but not limited to suspension from job duties while the investigation is occurring. #FairfaxResign #BelieveSurvivors
Suspension is not a punitive measure. It is done to protect the public & ensure that the internal investigation doesn't get derailed by the accused who would still have access to files, computers, company cell phone, etc. that could hold evidence. #FairfaxResign #BelieveSurvivors

Earlier today @ToddHaberkorn made a response to @jessiepridemore’s post regarding an incident with @vicmignogna. #kickvic…
He decided to include me in this response so I wanted to help add to the narrative.
I was surprised that Todd decided to use her post about surviving an assault to all but say “it was me” to the other part of Jessie’s story around the unnamed VA in this post. You were not called out by name so you thought that jumping in and saying it you was a good idea?
To include my name and not others who were there that evening who are not heavily involved in the anime industry still is a calculated move. To share screenshots of a private conversation without asking permission is a calculated move.

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford: My 2018 Heroine

On September 27, 2018, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford raised her right hand, swore to tell the truth to the Senate Judiciary Committee, and changed history—especially of the #MeToo movement.

While Brett Kavanaugh was ultimately confirmed to SCOTUS, Dr. Ford's testimony exampled that of a courageous survivor speaking truth to power on national television. This is how awareness is raised.

At first glance, Dr. Ford didn't appear to be courageous. In fact, she didn't believe herself to be. But as a fellow survivor, I know how much it takes to be fearful and to do what one thinks is right regardless. This IS courage.

The Media's Obsession With @MichaelAvenatti Has Gone Far Enough…
It is time for the media to have a serious reckoning about Michael Avenatti. The “Creepy Porn Lawyer” was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony domestic battery in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the news isn’t a huge surprise given his public track record.
Since becoming a household name in March, he has lied about potential evidence, manipulated his client’s statement, been accused of outright fraud, failed to pay millions in taxes, and was ordered to pay a $10 million judgement to a former associate.

Mueller accuses opponents of offering women money to make 'false claims' about him
Special counsel Robert Mueller has referred to the FBI allegations that women were "offered money" to make "false claims" about him, a spokesman said Tuesday.
"When we learned last week of allegations that women were offered money to make false claims about the Special Counsel, we immediately referred the matter to the FBI for investigation." spokesman Peter Carr says.

We conducted an outside, independent investigation, and that investigation showed we could not substantiate her claim of domestic abuse. And so I do not believe her — I believe our investigation.”
So, Dems can decide not to #BelieveWomen after an investigation shows the claims can’t be substantiated. Where are all the liberal feminist #BelieveSurvivors Kavanaugh mobs?

There is an inherent conflict between #BelieveSurvivors & due process. I don’t know the exact right answer, but I do know that the WRONG answer is to shame survivors as Republicans are doing. And where, as here, the allegations are credible, it is shameful to conduct a sham...1/
... investigation, as Republicans also did. 2/
I hope I hit the right note in this post.I’ve been thinking about this for a while. 3/

@JackPosobiec @Cernovich gentlemen, Mike Bloomberg is gearing up for a presidential run as a Democrat. Problem is, Mikey doesn’t #BelieveSurvivors.

1) Columbus Day 2018 is half time at the 2018 Mid-Term Bowl. The score is GOP 17 and Democrats 16. Let’s recap the first half.

#BlueWave #RedWave #2018MidTermElections…
2) Going into the game the Democrats were riding their #BlueWave of enthusiasm. They were so confident America was tired of all the lies and sordid behavior of Coach Trump that the Democrats could win the game easily.
3) They laughed at their good fortune every time a GOP player would pledge to work closely with their coach; such easy pickings.

After Kevin Cramer characterized #MeToo as "victimization," I thought it'd be helpful to look into Kevin's backstory.

Turns out this is one of the least misogynistic things he's ever said.
Buckle up, North Dakota & meet your possible future Senator.

(2) Cramer made national news with his hot take on Kavanaugh.

“My point was that there was no type of intercourse or anything like that...that nothing happened in terms of a sexual … event, beyond, obviously, the attack... Even if it’s all true, does it disqualify him?"

(3) Because there was no penetration, Cramer argues, there was no assault. And really, who hasn't been drunk and tried to rape a woman. Am I right? 👀

This is a guy endorsed & supported by GW Bush and Trump because of course, he is.

[THREAD] Kavanaugh’s confirmation today is just 1 part of Republicans’ decades-long campaign to subvert our democracy. They put their relentless pursuit of a Supreme Court controlled by radical right-wingers ahead of brave women who have told their stories. #KavanaughConfirmation
By taking extreme personal risk, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford & sexual assault survivors galvanized this process. Disturbing and credible allegations against Brett Kavanaugh were brought to light by several courageous women. None of it mattered to Republicans. #KavanaughConfirmation
Brett Kavanaugh lied under oath. He should be disbarred and investigated, not elevated to the Supreme Court. He has the lowest approval rating of a SCOTUS nominee since Robert Bork.

1/ We’ve spent months on the front lines fighting this nomination. From mobilizing for rallies, sharing stories of survival & making thousands on thousands of calls to senators—including 15,000 @HRC members today.

We’ve left nothing on the field in the fight to #StopKavanaugh.
2/ And we have done that because the stakes of this nomination—for LGBTQ people, for women, for people of color, for survivors of sexual assault—could not be any higher. Across the country, we have turned out to say we #BelieveSurvivors and we must #StopKavanaugh.
3/ Unfortunately @SenatorCollins, @Sen_JoeManchin and others in the U.S. Senate made clear today that they will nevertheless back this dangerous, unqualified nominee. This is a slap in the face to Americans everywhere. #StopKavanaugh

I usually don’t want live hearings and instead read the synopsis later. I have an anxiety disorder and I’ve found this helps manage it. But last week I stayed home and watched every second of Dr Ford and Kavanaugh. I still haven’t recovered #StopKavanaugh #BelieveSurvivors /1

Conservative Women Will Make Dems Pay For Kavanaugh In November…
Democrats assumed Republican women would play into their identity politics instead of seeking truth, and that assumption is blowing up in their faces.
Many conservative women see an eminently qualified Supreme Court nominee standing his ground, while duly elected members of the Senate attempt to destroy his life and prevent him from serving on the nation’s highest court.
