Important new @EHRC guidance on free speech on campus. These five 'core ideas' seem perfectly sensible equalityhumanrights.com/sites/default/…
And here are the 'key points' which should be uncontroversial. The devil, as with all complex issues, is in the detail. How do students and universities approach debating controversial topics? It's not just about rules - also about the culture of higher education
This is useful! I do like a good flow chart...
Is no platforming lawful? The EHRC say maybe not - depends on the circumstances
Here's an example which I imagine comes up at the moment - about inviting a speaker who has expressed the "belief that women with a Gender Recognition Certificate are still men"

The case study is silent, though, on what happens if the invitation has been made but is withdrawn...
Another reasonably common example: what responsibility does a Higher Education Provider have to allow an event which is being protested go ahead? Answer: they have to take reasonable steps to protect free speech
For anyone thinking of setting up a nu-lad society, this is for you
Not sure if a Nazi salute is a public order offence or incitement to religious hatred in this context but perhaps the criminal lawyers will have a better idea on this
On safe spaces
Anyway, that was just some tidbits, loads more of interest in there if you are in or involved in higher education equalityhumanrights.com/sites/default/…
