Hard not to like what the Houston #Texans have done with the coaching staff the past two years. Last year the team brought in experienced coaching with John Pagano and Brad Seely. Instant impact on special teams and McKinney goes to a Pro Bowl.
This year the team is bringing in more experience for Watson with Carl Smith. Smith has been in the league for a long time, and enjoys coaching players rather than focusing on advancement at this point in his career. This is exactly what the team needed.
Experienced good positional coaches is vital. The team still has their in-house built coaching talent in Anthony Weaver (possible next DC to succeed RAC), Anthony Midget, John Perry, and Tim Kelly.
Appears the coaching staff has an excellent blend of experiences and young minds across the board. Coaching matters.

The idea that impeachment is bad politics seems like oberlearning the lessons of the last war. It was bad politics when Clinton was impeached but good politics when Nixon was inpeached. Maybe the correct lesson is that the political upside correlates to the severity of the crime.
I agree and have made this argument (e.g.., Cohen guilty plea). But as someone who has worked on this for a long time I’ve always been fascinated by the unquestioning acceptance of the premise that impeachment of high crimes is bad politics.
I think part of it is that Dems have always been assuming that the fight would be waged over less than clear-cut crimes, or less than clear evidence that Trump was involved. That’s always been a flawed assumption too as some of us have been saying for years (cc @maxbergmann).

People often mistake my criticism of blind faith in electoral systems as a call to not vote. It’s not. I absolutely believe people should vote, even when it is for the lesser of two evils.

I also believe people shouldn’t believe it is a cure-all.
We have not done the necessary work over the past two years to safeguard our electoral processes and systems. We have not done enough direct action with that objective. I am not hopeful for November, but I have requested my absentee ballot anyways.
In the fight against fascism and white supremacy, we use every possible weapon. And voting is one of them. And it is one of many.

Last night, I listened to a tele townhall with my MoC, Rep. Ann Wagner. She has not held an in-person townhall since she took office in 2012. I've participated in several of these in the past two years. Last night's left me particularly disturbed. /1
A caller, let's call her Alice, is a small business owner in St. Charles. She and her husband get their insurance from through the ACA and pay about $1700 a month with $6500 deductible. Alice professes to be healthy but her husband has diabetes. /2
Alice has a 30 y/o daughter-in-law with breast cancer. Alice's son and DIL vote Democrat because "they don't think the Republicans have a plan for healthcare". /3

So ... I have been planning something a very long time that I haven't shared here - it used to feel like a silly dream, but now it's my retirement plan. I'm buying land and building a home - with no loans. Lemme tell u-this scheme has taken some dedication, discipline, and magic.
I've "owned" 2 homes b4 in my life - I lost both during times that coincided w housing market problems and break ups w my children's fathers - they were both heart aches to lose. I can barely talk about it.
The first home that I bought was built for Frank Phillips of the u know big Phillips Oil Corp - it was built in the 20s and had a speakeasy built into the basement ... it was like a small castle, stunning w wood floors and amazing architectural features - huge corner lot

It really hard to fire a coach who goes 9-7 and 9-7 and makes the playoffs after you went 5-27 the two years before that.
Until I was told* it might be otherwise, I thought Mularkey's job was basically completely safe. Wouldn't have bought into any reports.
