As people, we have a choice. We can reject politics as they are. We can say no to the lies and pageantry and deceit. We can shut the door on an era of manipulation, false promises, and appeals to our worst vices and natures.

Our politicians aren't going to do it. We have to.

The only reason this works is because we allow it to. There's an illusion here that we are separated and powerless to change things. It only works so long as we allow it and as long as we allow ourselves to think and behave as the people who benefit from it all want us to.

This framing of reality has created a system of control that puts a ruling class in charge that has no interest in making our lives or the country better. The contests are all decided by who can best carve up our electorate and manipulate those segmentations.

Stop viewing politics as a contest of manipulations. Stop reading accounts of politics as a sporting event and stop treating the illusion as an entertainment or television show. It can stop. It can get better. And it absolutely has to get better or we don't stand a chance.

As long as politics is treated as spectacle, we'll continue to get Donald Trumps. People like him thrive in this distorted reality, and he's not going to be the last of his kind. This problem has been going on for forever, and it isn't going to get better on its own.

Don't let this system of control make you feel powerless. You're only powerless as long as they convince you you're powerless, and that's the only means by which the ruling class can maintain control.
