So. We're supposed to believe it's a coincidence that while Trump was courting Russia in a business deal Russian asset Paul Manafort just shows up and suddenly everyone has suspicious contacts with Russia that they lie about and Russia just happens to help Trump get elected?
Paul Manafort’s job in Ukraine was to assist in setting up puppets for Putin and Russia. That was his expertise. He came back to America and immediately worked to get Trump elected while he spouted pro-Russia rhetoric and advanced their goals. That’s a coincidence?
Manafort pushes Michael Flynn, who’s compromised by Russia, as a VP candidate and then Flynn contacts Russia about sanctions and lies about it and that’s a coincidence?
Literally everybody in Trump World begins contacting and working with shadowy Russian assets at the same time as Trump pushes Russian interests and Manafort arrives. The thing turns on like a switch got flipped. But it’s a coincidence...
This thing has been out there in the wide open for years. People were telling me about it in Summer 2016. Way, way too many “respectable people” with financial incentive to look the other way have fallen down on this beat and it’s a miserable shame.
The reason it worked was because it was so brazen and the people tasked with covering it were too ready to disbelieve it was happening or too ensconced in their own worlds and privilege to want to see it.
