Here is the full statement of Dr. Vanessa Tyson, who is accusing VA Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of raping her in 2004.
Just as a matter of optics and politics, I have a tough time seeing how Fairfax rides this one out. The statement is rough stuff. But I dunno.

I've seen a lot of malevolent behavior from the MSM over the Covington Catholic drama, but NBC trying to insinuate via viral social media headline that they banned a gay kid from speaking (when in truth the kid is only from the same DIOCESE, but a different school) is a new low.
There is literally no excuse for running that headline the way it is. Phrasing it honestly ("gay kid from totally different high school vicariously judges people he doesn't know") would have revealed it was not a story.
So I'm not sure what the justification here was, save "bad faith." They *knew* that the masses of people desperate for some further reason to mob these kids would read that as "MAGA kids' high school also hates gays!"

I am a conservative Republican, so please take that as an admission against interest as I patiently explain to you that Pelosi will go down in history as one of the most effective House leaders in the modern history of the Republic given what she has accomplished for progressives
Pelosi is old (and the grey-haired nature of Dem House leadership is a real problem - the GOP is legitimately better about promoting youth through the ranks), but the fact that she didn't deliver you a pony for Christmas doesn't mean that she's not extremely good at her job.
In an age of extreme polarization (and hence wild swings from cycle-to-cycle in the House), effective leadership means wrangling votes and instilling obedience and unity within fractious ranks. The Democrats under Pelosi have been nearly unparalleled at this, the GOP...welp.

One of the least-appreciated aspects of Beto O'Rourke's overperformance/Cruz's underperformance in TX-SEN last night: the entire GOP bench of judges was wiped off the map wholesale in Dallas and Houston. The legal topography of the state just changed overnight.
It gets worse than that. Due to straight-ticket voting option (gone next cycle), Harris County (Houston)'s long-serving well-liked GOP executive was defeated by a 27-year-old who has only sporadically lived in the county and has never held an actual job.
Ed Emmett was a guy a lot of people would have liked to see run for governor of Texas someday. Now he's a casualty of people clicking the 'straight ticket' option and voting for Betomania.

Been following the shit show that is Virginia leadership and just realized that the woman accusing Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax is a former political science professor of mine—Dr. Vanessa Tyson. AND WOW.
Right now, the Lt. Gov. is denying Professor Tyson’s accusation and some sources are even reporting that the Lt. Gov. recently said, “Fuck that bitch” in a meeting in response to the allegations, though Fairfax denies saying these words.

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax issued a statement Monday morning denying accusations of sexual assault from 2004. Fairfax said the allegations were investigated by The Washington Post last year, who found, “significant red flags and inconsistencies within the allegation.”
