1/3 Thomas Grayson Young was a founding member of BSEIU Local 32B, now @32BJSEIU ( chartered in 1934). He served as Vice-President, and served as Secretary. BSEIU fought for equal wages for all employees regardless of race; Young constantly advocated for civil rights. 
2/3 1944: Young, in favor of the Ives-Quinn bill and told that his godson was killed in action in Italy, said,"This boy was snatched out of college to make the supreme sacrifice. If he was good enough to die for his country other Negro boys are good enough to work for it."
3/3 " If we here do not take steps to end the kind of discrimination which denies a man the right to a job because of his skin, then this boy's death and the death of all the others who are fighting for a democratic world is in vain."
