Me (stupid, inexperienced, naive): Years of believable allegations of skeevy behavior and worse including from OUR OWN EMPLOYEES is probably a good reason not to tarnish our brand any further.

You (smart, professionally savvy): ONLY CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS ARE FIREABLE OFFENSES.
Victim: I have just experienced something deeply confusing and humiliating in a purposely secretive way. I'd like to come forward but worry about if I will be taken seriously and believed.

You, A Stranger: I AM ENTITLED TO OGLE THE PHOTOGRAPHIC AND VIDEO EVIDENCE, LIAR.
A thing that happens frequently: A person in a position of power and authority takes advantage of that position to abuse others.

A virtually unheard of thing: A years-long fictional whispering campaign maintained, uncoordinated, by random people, including that person's peers.
Things multi-million dollar companies do: Cut their losses when a privately maintained contractor relationship is no longer tenable because of bad behavior.

Things multi-million dollar companies don’t do: Sever relationships with otherwise bankable stars because of fee fees.
This thread brought to you by seeing the toxic portions of the fandom spaying its musk all over the place, especially at some of my fellow actors who are women. Uh, that's some bullshit, so I'll volunteer to take some of that heat.
Also, I don't mention any names here, because you know why? The rhetorical sophistry I see on display is a god damn MS Office template that y'all will end up using again the next time this shit comes up....
One last one.

A thing that might happen: People who work on a property together come forward against one of their coworkers despite that show’s success because it is right.

A thing that does not happen: False denunciations BECAUSE a property was popular, out of envy. 🤷‍♂️
Sorry, one more, because it’s seriously the dumbest one and shows you have zero idea of how the voice industry or even, you know, human vocal chords work.

“THAT LADY IN THE INDUSTRY LIED ABOUT THAT DUDE IN THE INDUSTRY SO SHE COULD TAKE OVER HIS ROLES.”

🤔
Another take, because people don't understand how things work in the entertainment industry. You understand that in almost every case, voice actors aren't employees, right? The entertainment companies are customers of our services.
These companies go to the voice stores we run, and they buy a voice.

Are you saying if you went to a restaurant a few times, then found out from people there that the kitchen was unsanitary, that because you had once eaten there you were OBLIGATED TO KEEP EATING THERE FOREVER?
WHERE ARE THE LAB RESULTS PROVING I WILL GET FOOD POISONING, HUH, HUH? NOM NOM NOM

Nah dude, that place is sketch, I'm gonna go hit up that other place.
People will be less inclined to believe the original allegations because people are busy yelling at the industry insiders who also came forward because people were initially yelling at the people with the original allegations is a galaxy brain take.

☝️Although in this case, I think this poster is not being argumentative but describing an online dynamic of focusing on the famous people, not everyday victims...
Since this meta thread keeps growing, here's a thing I've learned--I didn't know the online colloquial usage of NPC as a put down. That shit is gross, man. Calling another 3-dimensional human a non-player character erases their agency. It paves the way to dehumanization. Stop it.
Another fun skill I’m learning! When to mute and when to block. It’s a fine line, but I think I’m getting it.
Here the the rubric that works for me. Your mileage may vary. If you’re an argumentative dick who is really just desperate for attention, mute. Conspiracy theory peddlers, active liars, etc—block.
A thing I keep thinking about—centering being a consumer at the heart of your identity is pretty toxic. And consumption as politics is bad politics. Thinking of harassment investigations as an element of customer service will lead you to break your own brain.
