So, I did read the Esquire article, and I can confirm it's hot garbage. Don't read it. Waste of your time. There is nothing insightful or illuminating. It is the same wishy-washy, liberal-journalist-overcompensating-by-not-pressing-too-hard, rationalizing-Trump-voters nonsense. 
It's Black History Month. What if Esquire had done a profile on a Black young woman in West Bend? What about a Black LGBTQ person? What about a Black young man? How about a Black teacher negotiating the intersections facing them? Or a Black parent in this town?
And I genuinely feel bad for the kid in this profile because he's the face of this utter failure in journalism. He will bear the brunt of criticism, not Esquire or Jennifer Percy. He is being exploited so that Esquire can attempt to pander with shitty journalism.
