Sweetie, I'm not mad so much as perplexed because women do this shit for their kids ALL. THE. TIME. -- and there are no segments on "Good Morning America", let alone Facebook, congratulating them. Why? Because women, even without kids, are expected to do this.
.@rhmaz610 True story: one of my best friends is a guy with three young kids. He's a great parent. He and his wife are co-parents in every sense. He's told me about the numerous times some older woman will compliment him on his "babysitting" and how insulting that feels.
.@rhmaz610 My friend finds it condescending that because he's a man, he's not expected to know how to be a parent. Because he's very good at it. So, this shit where men get a parade for doing basic things really bothers him. You're so spun up that you didn't even think of that.
