Here are a few crappy things that have gone down in the 16th Lok Sabha, all of which are significant and worth remembering:

- Foreign Funding to political parties was allowed. They also introduced electoral bonds which are like a exclusive currency for Political parties.
- Aadhaar Act was passed as a money bill by Lok Sabha. Rajya Sabha had no say in it and the Finance Ministry just casually bulldozed it through.

- They tried to overrule the SC Judgment with a new bill but (fortunately) the bill has lapsed. So... yay!
- Average number of days Parliament functions in an year has gone down to 62.

- State elections were *always* prioritized over Parliament sessions. One session was postponed and cut short because of elections in Gujarat.
- Demonetization had no semblance of Parliamentary approval.

- After it happened, they kept avoiding having even a discussion in both houses of Parliament for the duration of a whole Winter Session.

(This was really outrageous and plain dictatorial tbh.)
- Land Acquisition Bill was brought in and it didn't get passed, so the Govt kept issuing and reissuing it as an Ordinance.

- It was an active law for more than 160 days WITHOUT Parliamentary approval.

- The Bill has lapsed now that the 16th Lok Sabha is over.
- Transgender Bill, the first Private Members Bill to be cleared after 45 years even in ONE house, was systematically derailed.

- Govt brought in their own version of the bill, which was super diluted and horrible.

- Fortunately, the Govt bill has lapsed!
(Have to give my personal opinion about the Speaker)

- She was partisan on a bunch of occasions and allowed the bulldozing of a bunch of bills without debate.

- She allowed Aadhaar and even amendments to RBI Act & Representation of People's Act to be certified as money bills.
Seeing all of this up close was horrifying. I would wish for it never to happen again, but then I'd be extremely stupid to say so.

Mark my words, ALL of this crap will be used as precedents by the incoming Governments to do worse things.

BJP or INC, doesn't matter.
Just leaving this piece I wrote back in 2017 because it pretty much encompasses what the 16th Lok Sabha has been.
