A cage?

I feel inspired to rant off this inane, self-indulged idiocy that the New York Times is calling “news.”
For starters, Christianity is only a cage if you have absolutely no concept of what Christ teaches. If you have even a childlike understanding of Scripture, you know life in Christ is the most liberating thing you could ever have. 1/
For starters, the apostle Paul writes to the Galatians, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” - Galatians 5:11
2/
As it says in the Gospel of John, “Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” - John 8:31-32
3/
More from Paul’s letter to the Galatians: “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.” - Galatians 5:13
4/
Anyone who goes into the priesthood should know all these Scriptures. They should also know that this barely scratches the surface on how freedom in Christ Jesus is better than being bondages to sin. 5/
The problem with the New York Times and too many people who share their worldview is that their conception of freedom is limited to “I do what I want when I want without any care as to how it affects others.” That’s not freedom, that’s selfish. 6/
When you use freedom as a license to do evil and immoral things, you are a slave to those things. When you sin against God, you are a slave to sin. That includes homosexuality. 7/
No matter how much you want to engage in it, homosexuality is a sin, condemned in both Old and New Testaments. God didn’t destroy Saddam and Gomorrah for giggles, folks. 8/
If you claim the mantle of Christianity, you don’t get to then pick and choose which tenets you want to obey. That’s what these priests who claim it’s a cage are doing. 9/
They don’t believe the Word of God. They don’t believe Jesus Christ is the only way out of sin and into eternal salvation. They want their cake and eat it too. 10/
The only freedom they’re interested in is flouting the Word of God and substituting their own personal preferences. 11/
More from Paul’s letter to the Galatians: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” - Galatians 6:7
12/
These priests are living in sin, some of them mocking God out in the open. And by the Times writing so sympathetically about them, they are also mocking God. Make no mistake. 13/
The Times also goes out of their way to blame Conservatives for this. Instead of laying the blame for this behavior squarely in the lap of those who engaged in it (including the abuse), they go to their favorite bogeyman: those mean conservatives and the “far right.” 14/
Don’t blame conservatives for your mocking of God and His laws. The blame goes to the person you see when you look in a mirror. And that goes for every sin under the sun. 15/
But guess what? As my pastor reminded us on the Sunday he preached on abortion and sanctity of life, there isn’t a sin under the sun that can’t be forgiven. “Which sins can be forgiven?” He asked. “All of them.” 16/
Forgiveness requires repentance. It requires acknowledgement that we are all sinners. It requires abandoning that sin and not pretending it’s okay. God loves you and me in spite of ourselves. Remember that and serve Him on His terms and not yours. 17/
If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t be a priest. Period, end of sentence.

Rant over. 18/18
