And now, in less than three hours, it begins to unravel.. Reuters: "Labour spokesman says referendum giving choice between May's deal and Remain would not be acceptable."
What does it mean? May's deal or no deal? Labour's deal or no deal? Or some complex three or four option vote that would, almost certainly produce a result no-one would accept...
A longer version, again via Reuters: "Emily Thornberry told ITV a second referendum should present a choice between May's deal and remaining in the EU, but the Labour spokesman directly contradicted her, saying that would be an unacceptable choice."
As many here have pointed out, that's the Shadow Foreign Secretary vs an un-named "Labour spokesman", but it does suggest that support for a new position is not unanimous...
