The National @DomesticWorkers Alliance has worked to protect domestic workers, immigrants, women, and their families for more than a decade, and I'm proud to say that NDWA has joined @OnwardTogether as an official partner.
Since last summer, @OnwardTogether has raised more than $1.8 million for the groups working to protect the kids and families separated by ICE, including Families Belong Together, NDWA's initiative to fight the Trump administration's family separation policy.
I met with @aijenpoo and @aliciagarza to talk about ways we could continue working together, and a partnership was born.
We have many fights ahead—from reuniting separated families to making sure the workers who care for families and homes across the country are treated with dignity and respect.

The Trump administration opened a new assault on Americans' health care yesterday by telling a federal appeals court that the entire law should be struck down.

It's a sickening attack on people with pre-existing conditions, seniors, and young people. cnn.com/2019/03/25/pol…
The move is a dramatic escalation on the attacks on Obamacare in the courts, even for the Trump administration. Under Jeff Sessions, the Justice Department had argued some parts of the law could stand. Now, all of the law's protections will be at the mercy of conservative judges.
If Republicans prevail in court:

- 20 million people will lose coverage
- Protections for pre-existing conditions will be gone
- Young people won't be able to stay on their parents' plans until age 26
- Limits on coverage will return
- Caps on out-of-pocket expenses will be gone

An administration's budget says a lot about what—and, more importantly, who—it values.

So let's talk about the Trump administration's 2020 budget proposal and why it makes clear that this administration doesn’t value seniors, low-income families, and young people.
The budget would cut or remove the following over the next decade:

- $845 billion from Medicare
- $241 billion from Medicaid
- $220 billion from the SNAP nutrition program for low-income families
- $207 billion from federal student loan programs
Instead of investing in Americans and their families, the Trump budget would:

1. Add $33 billion to the Defense budget for a total of $718 billion.

Even without those additions, our defense budget is equal to the military spending of half the world. vox.com/2015/8/23/9189…

Important legislation introduced yesterday: The Reproductive Rights Are Human Rights Act would correct the Trump administration's dangerous decision to remove reporting on reproductive rights from the State Department's annual reports on human rights practices around the world.
Some background:

All branches of the U.S. government use the State Department's human rights reports to shape policy and inform decision-making around diplomacy and allocations of aid and security.
Human rights advocates, lawmakers, academics, businesses, NGOs, and other institutions all over the world use the reports to inform their work as well.

In the traditional breadwinner & caregiver roles, men made money & women tended to home. As women stepped out to work & with affordability, the caregiving tasks were outsourced. Our disrespect for domestic work continued. We didn't value it earlier, we don't value it now (2/n)
Our collective disrespect for domestic work, which comes out in our introduction of homemakers ("she doesn't work"), makes us apathetic to this work. India does not recognise #domesticwork as work yet. (3/n)

One thing confuses me - seems apparent Trump was told to run for office as early as 2013 Miss Universe or earlier, so why did Manafort talk his way onto campaign in the middle. Why wasn't Putin already directing it? My theory is Trump wasn't Putin's only GOP candidate....
Russia plays a long game & was cultivating Trump as early as late '80s under Soviets, but they'd be foolish to put all eggs in 1 basket. Seems likely they'd have cultivated others. GOP field was large & perhaps Manafort gets sent to Trump when he emerges as most likely contender.
I find is striking how many GOP - both those who ran as candidates in 2016 & those who didn't - have Russian connections. Remember the video where Roy Moore of Alabama spoke fluent Russian? He can barely speak fluent English, but he's got Russian down pat.

I don't believe in the ability of affluent white women to lead a feminist movement in such a way that:
1) is intersectional
2) truly understands & addresses the reality & scope of white patriarchy & rape culture
3) centers the experiences of poor women & women of color
Am I saying there's no room for affluent white women? No. I'm saying that the failure to recognize how WW hold a privileged position within white patriarchy, benefit from & perpetuate it in many ways is a constant point of disconnect b/w white feminism & intersectionality 2/
While Tarana Burke & Alicia Garza have been pushing for MeToo to focus on the conditions of domestic workers, poor women and women of color, white feminists like Margaret Atwood continually focus on the movement's potential negative impact on (mostly white) men 3/
