Public thanks to @ChrisThinnes for introducing me to the YouTube treasure trove of episodes of Ralph Gleason's Jazz Casual. These are amazing live performances and the sound mixing astounds.
I need someone who knows how sound recording and mixing works to explain to me how a show produced in the 1960's and now on a digital platform has such incredible depth and fidelity. I can't listen to it while working because it's too absorbing.
Someone should also get to work on a bio-pic of Ralph Gleason. Amazing life for that guy.

Current dilemma. Do I reply to the person who sent me the PR email with the subject header below telling him how idiotic it is to send me this based on an article I wrote saying how dumb these types of predictions are?
The article I wrote which he thought would make me interested in his factoid specifically debunks the shoddy research and thinking which underpins those sorts of claims. insidehighered.com/blogs/just-vis…
The organization he represents is a job recruiting website focused on the "leisure industry." On what planet does he think I would cite research produced by his outfit as reliable or useful on a higher education website?

A good rundown on the Gallup student poll research showing the importance of faculty mentoring, but the headline hits me funny. I think most faculty are aware of the ways they matter. insidehighered.com/views/2019/02/…
The barriers to better faculty mentoring are far more likely to be systemic than individual. As contingent faculty I could not effectively mentor students because I was never going to teach an upper-division course where I might see them a second time.
Or, adjunct faculty may simply not be around in future semester to be a mentor. Even now, when I haven't been teaching, students reach out to me and I try to help, but I can't do things like write recommendations because I lack status and institutional affiliation.

This comment about taking commercial orders is exactly what I have seen on their older now abandoned bots.
Their tweets would be a mix of commercial spam and politics
When I mention Google and YouTubes hiding of what the Internet research agency does this is what I’m talking about.
The Russians have massive amounts of YouTube trolls and bots that up/down vote videos and make comments.
@Google does nothing.
