Neko Case with Margaret Glaspy opening is the best possible way to spend the night before classes start.
Margaret Glaspy made herself a lot of new fans tonight. People talking about how great it was. I’ve been a huge fan for 2 years so this makes me happy.
Neko was of course great as well, though I wish she would rock out more, maybe sing a little less about birds and what not.

This Day in Labor History: January 23, 1973. The Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers went on strike against Shell Oil with significant help from environmental organizations. Let's talk about a time when labor and greens worked together!
By the late 1960s, many unions responded to growing scientific literature about the health effects of industrial labor by demanding federal action and demanding action from employers to clean up their workplaces.
On the federal level, this led to the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Companies resisted doing anything about these workplaces.

I hadn't heard the Amanda Shires that came out last year. It's time to change that.
I also just listened to the Georgia Anne Muldrow album from last year and that was pretty sweet.

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether
