Heyoooooo. For the 37% of you who don't know how to do a reverse image search, behold:

what it is and why it's important!
A reverse image search lets you take any image and find out if an image is original, and if not, when and where the first instances of it on the Internet were.

I used it to uncover inauthentic accounts for my @BuzzFeedNews investigation in the fall: buzzfeednews.com/article/ninaja…
It can be useful when trying to determine if an image has been faked, or as is increasingly common these days, repurposed (often happens with natural disasters, wars, events threatening public safety).
You can use Google reverse image search (in chrome, right click on image and click "search google for image), Yandex (which is super powerful and can identify similar images/faces really well), TinEye, and others to do this for you.
