The abuse doesn’t just come from the Catholic church, however. Yesterday, the United Methodists tightened the ban on same sex marriage and gay clergy.

As the battery of LGBT people rises around the globe, their response is to join in on the battery. 3)

I’m an atheist. I was once a believing Catholic. The child abuse and unforgivable treatment of gay people like me lead me to reject the church, because they rejected me.

What good is any church that sides with hate? What good is any god that allows their church to? 4)

I don’t allow my disdain for religious institutions to cloud my empathy and love for any human who believes. That is a choice that I respect.

I do think there is more majesty in the Universe that exists than a spirit world conceived with the flaws of men of 2000 yrs ago. 5)

It might be helpful to repost this thread. Many reading this may not know what it’s like to grow up in homophobic religion as an LGBT person.

It lead me to attitudes I’m ashamed of, only conquered by leaving.
