There's no better crystallization of the Swamp in the Trump Era than a senator's explanation that his campaign spends lots of money to hold fundraisers at a hotel Trump still profits from because wealthy donors who trade political money for access to power like it there
One of my favorite little details in this story is the fact that the slip the room key comes in lists Trump properties, several of which aren't actually Trump properties anymore, like Panama.
I also learned that -- assuming @ilyamarritz is pronouncing it right -- I've been pronouncing Atiku Abubakar's name wrong for almost 20 years, thanks to Will Ferrell

Trump ordered then-chief of staff John Kelly to grant Jared Kushner a top-secret security clearance last year, overruling concerns from intel officials.

Kelly was so troubled by the demand that he wrote a contemporaneous memo to make a paper trail nytimes.com/2019/02/28/us/…
The White House Counsel at the time, Don McGahn, also wrote a memo

The line of questioning from Rep Katie Hill seems big: Cohen tells her that Trump called to ask him to say that Trump didn't know about the hush payments. He's saying Trump called him to coach him with the purpose of misleading the public.
Hill: What did the president ask or suggest that you say about the payments or reimbursements?

Cohen: He was not knowledgeable of these reimbursements and he wasn't knowledgeable of my actions.

Hill: He asked you to say that?

Cohen: Yes ma'am.
So to return to this video where Trump first denied knowledge of the hush payments in April 2018, we now know the denial came about eight months after Trump had personally signed a reimbursement check to Cohen and about just weeks after he called Cohen to coordinate messaging.

Hi! I’m Meg, a senior producer on Trump, Inc. I co-reported our story today about the Trumps lying to push their deals around the world. There’s something I want to flag:

The remarkable number of fees for Trump baked into one of his deals: Panama.

Trump’s Panama agreement stipulated:
a $1m licensing fee
$2.2m for arranging financing
at least a 4% cut of unit sales
17.5% of hotel room fees, including the mini-bar, internet service, bathrobes
4% of hotel revenue for management
Overall, Trump made about $30-55M off the Panama project — a project that *went bankrupt* and where many investors & buyers lost money. How did he do that? By earning fees that have nothing to do with the long-term success of the building.
