Folks, here's a story showing how little Republicans actually care about combating anti-Semitism:
Two weeks ago, as the House was about to pass HJ Res 37, the resolution ending US support for the Yemen war, House Republicans offered a measure adding language about the need to combat anti-Semitism.
Republicans clearly thought that Democrats would vote down the measure, and then they could bash Democrats for not supporting the fight against anti-Semitism. Instead, it passed unanimously, and was added to the Yemen resolution.
Their effort to prevent passage of the Yemen res having failed, 177 Republicans (including Rep. David Kustoff, who offered the motion on anti-Semitism) then voted against the final resolution which included the language on the need to combat anti-Semitism.
The resolution then came to the Senate, where Majority Leader McConnell used the new language on combating anti-Semitism to strip the resolution of privilege and deny it a vote on the floor, as he does with anything Trump doesn't like.
So, to sum up: the GOP successfully used Congress' unanimous commitment to combating anti-Semitism to prolong US support for the Yemen war, the world's worst humanitarian catastrophe.
Thus far, @EricLevitz is the only journalist I've seen who has noted this. nymag.com/intelligencer/…
Right now, there's a resolution sitting in the Senate that would both end US support for the Yemen war *and* make clear Congress's commitment to combating anti-Semitism. But McConnell won't bring it up for a vote.
