Two weeks ago, ODOT released the Environmental Assessment of the RQ Freeway Expansion; the document said the widening would improve air quality, lower carbon emissions, and reduce traffic congestion.

Since that's a bold claim, the @nomorefreeways team wanted to double check ODOT's arithmetic - like a middle school math test, you only really get credit if you "show your work" and can prove you didn't fudge the numbers.

@nomorefreeways This information will allow community members to independently verify ODOT’s claims about the impacts this proposed freeway expansion will have on our planet’s carbon emissions, our children’s lungs, our region’s traffic congestion, and our local neighborhood’s traffic patterns.
It seems only fair that the community should have the chance to review ODOT's numbers It's a $500 million project, and the agency has a history of conflating numbers to promote their construction projects:

anyway, @nomorefreeways sent in a letter asking @OregonDOT to provide us these data. Sure is curious why this information wasn't made available when EA was first published back on the 15th. Meanwhile, we only have four weeks left to review these figures:
