I thought the Left-Liberal position on religion and kids is- all religion is divisive & therefore kids should be allowed to blossom in 'religion less environment'. Then how are they ok with #surfexcel ad that promotes children should choose religion over playing with friends.
In the #surfexcel ad, a 5-6 year old boy chooses (?) to go to a mosque when all his friends are playing Holi, an event that happens once a year, while namaz is 5 times a day. Did the kid choose this option himself? Was he coerced by his clearly devout parents?
I have not known any little boy choosing prayers over play when his friends are playing. If his parents were forcing him to choose religion over friendship then why are left liberals not up in arms about this? Doesn't this go against classic left and liberal position? #surfexcel
So if left- liberals are hailing this ad as an example of social harmony then they are compromising on their position that religion is divisive and harmful for children? Or is this like feminists supporting 5 year old baby girls wearing hijab as an example of 'free choice'
In his latest column @swapan55 talks about being introduced to the word 'woke'. I am increasingly getting acquainted with the bizarre 'wokeness' myself. I think this #surfexcel ad is a classic 'woke' malady. Let children be children please. We don't need 'woke' children.
