Protip: "Arab" is not an ethnicity. Peoples that self-identify as Arab come from many different ethnicities and lineages. What binds them together is a shared language (which means a shared cultural sphere), and shared history.
Arab nationalism had a terrible legacy and has inflicted massive trauma on both non-Arabs and Arabs living in the Arabic-speaking world - it denied our diversity and tried to paint us all with one brush.
We can reject and denounce Arab nationalism without rejecting the existence of a shared consciousness, history, and identity among Arabic-speaking peoples.
Often you'll hear Arabic-speaking people reject the title of "Arab" and insist on a more native identity - despite the fact that Arabic is their first (often, only) language. What they're doing is rejecting that closed supremacist Arab nationalism.
Btw, another protip: Never argue someone's identity with them. If they tell you what they self-identify as, accept and respect it. Denying someone's identity is a shortcut to making them resent you even more.
