As a reporter, why in the world would you ever write this story? It has zero news value, and it will now be known forever that when Media Matters needed help pushing a lame gotcha, they knew they could count on you to be an ideological ally.
Don’t get me wrong, five roommates is impressive. But it’s not enough. Now if she had seven roommates, then I would probably concede the point.
And just one dog? You need at least two to be considered legit.

A background check requirement for unlicensed sales could have saved a woman who was shot and killed in January 2018 in Appleton, Wisconsin, by her husband, who was able to purchase the firearm from a seller he met online, despite his prohibiting felony conviction.
It could have saved a woman, her husband, and six children—aged 6 to 13—who were all killed by her former partner in August 2015 near Houston, Texas. Despite an extensive prohibiting criminal history, the killer was able to buy a gun from a stranger he met online.
Or another woman who was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend in May 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The killer, who also seriously injured her two children in the shooting, had a prohibiting restraining order against him, but was able to purchase a firearm from an unlicensed seller.

Let's talk about Social Security, Medicare, and payroll taxes. [Thread]
FDR set up Social Security with a dedicated payroll tax. He reasoned that setting it up this way would help protect the system from attack. archives.gov/exhibits/treas…
Today, dedicated payroll taxes are relied upon to operate Social Security and *some of* Medicare. There are two Trust Funds associated with each of these federal programs. Social Security's Trust Funds are: OASI (Old-Age and Survivors Insurance) and DI (Disability Insurance).
Medicare's two separate Trust Funds are: Hospital Insurance (HI) and Supplementary Medical Insurance (SMI). Each year, the financial health of Social Security and Medicare is evaluated in the form of an Annual Report of the Trustees. ssa.gov/oact/TRSUM/

1.  This thread may not be popular.  But I'm hoping it explains one of things that annoys property taxpayers:  why do my property taxes go up each year.
2.  Property tax is a levy.  Basically all the costs of city services are added up and then the total needed is shared across all the properties in the city according to value.  So your taxes are your share of the total costs of services.
3.  Property Tax revenues don't rise with inflation (ie. Property values).  Hence if there's any year over year cost increases, they must be covered by a slightly higher tax rate (levy) for the same level of service.
