Was it even 48hrs after the crash? There is a moral dividend to people doing the right thing - putting value on life, mourning properly etc. How do you just jump into that - on the basis of a deleted tweet and ONE news anchor - and try to claim that? Foken hell
The idea that the erasure or non-erasure of the tragedy is all down to 'the west' is so annoying. Everyone is mourning their dead in their own way. Why are you so good - so pure as the driven snow - that it falls upon you to mourn more than your fair share?
My whole timeline is filled with people who’ve changed their DP to Pius Adesanmi. I’ve already seen a very nice obit for him. Even Buhari has put out a statement. But no, you just jump in, survey the scene and declare the crime of ‘western erasure’ has occurred

I remember a story back then. Abacha asked Ogwuma to print him N1bn. Ogwuma tried to explain that printing N1bn would cost close to N1bn due to paper, security etc. Abacha said “I said you should bring N1bn and you’re telling me to pay N1bn?” He could never understand it

Wale’s Red Table made me smile in a different sort of way because till today I still remember the first time I saw a Nigerian couple ‘in love’ as a kid. As in displaying that love. It was such a shock to the system. Like 3 decades ago and I can describe the scene to you today

Here in the U.K., in the last election we had in 2017, turnout was ~70%. In essence, however you want to win an election in Nigeria, you have to *persuade* people to change their mind. If you’re Labour and you want power, you need to persuade people who voted Tory to switch
That’s a simplification but you get the idea. Now think about Lagos, I think turnout was ~20%. But the way to look at it is something I recently learnt from reading my brother @EfosaOjomo’s book The Prosperity Paradox. APC and PDP are not really the competition

theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/… It really is remarkable that the president spouts Putin’s propaganda, and everyone shrugs because it’s not news that he’s Putin’s puppet.

Sure, there’s still work that needs to be done *proving* it, but that Putin owns him is not controversial anymore.
If you want to know what life under a puppet government is like, I suppose that’s it: The official line is the president is a democratic leader, but everyone just knows that he’s actually being controlled by a foreign power.
Also worth pausing to note that the same people who made 1984’s Red Dawn a big hit would now greet a Russian invasion by waving Russian flags and cheering their new leader Putin, with Trump at his side, in the streets.
