I was utterly floored by an email yesterday. A 12 year old boy wrote to ask "what can my generation do to convince the politicians to act on climate change and get our country off fossil fuels?"

I'm looking for advice from Twitter to give him the response he deserves... [1/5]
My thoughts so far (with the help of friends) are:

(1) The fact you're asking these questions and care about them is the most important thing.

(2) Nurture your curiosity and passion. Read up, go to talks, study hard so you have the skills you need to change the future. [2/5]
(3) This will be a marathon, not a sprint. Don't lose your motivation.

(4) Help those around you (family & friends) see the seriousness of this and make changes to their lives. Less meat, less flying, be willing to wear a jumper indoors in winter, walk and cycle more. [3/5]
(5) Politicians keep saying they will respond to what the people want, so help to tell them. The #SchoolsStrike4Climate are happening in 1000 cities around the world this Friday. Do stuff with @ExtinctionR, or if they aren't near you, start a group and people will join you. [4/5]
People who care change things.

This is going to be the most important challenge for my generation, your generation, and your children’s. If we solve this, people will look back at us with respect rather than anger. [5/5]
I've written a lot (I couldn't get this email out of my mind) but it could be better.

Any other ideas, guides, resources, practical steps I could suggest?
