i feel like 2015 to now was a massive open air experiment on how the public at large is or is not going to take to certain ideas, an experiment in what they will or will not respond to, and it seems like different observers have gathered wildly different results

there really was a moment a few years ago where the feeling was, wow, all these radical ideas are breaking into the public sphere for the first time, maybe people will acually wake up en masse to all this stuff.

i feel like the reactionary nationalism movement has (naturally) been the guy who cracks a particular conspiracy theory and goes through a phase of, "wow, i cant wait to tell everyone this. when i just show them these new facts i have, theyll have to see that im right!"

if youve ever "figured out" a conspiracy theory or had some big revelation about something you thought was fake or evil actually being true, you know this feeling. its logical. you found certain info, and if you could just show it to everyone, theyll "get it" as well.

this is a universal feeling. it even happened to timothy leary, who thought the same thing about acid. if i could just get people to have this experience (in his case, tripping), see this data, watch this video, read this book, they'll get it. sadly it does not work this way.

people are complex strange creatures + its naive to think you can isolate one particular part of them to cause an instant and radical change. i see new american nationalism as moving past this first naive stage now, realizing that "just telling people" isnt actually going to work

this will be extremely polarizing as lots of things will be up in the air but, just like a person who goes through a turbulent time after "waking up", we will emerge a more cohesive + positive person who by virtue of being a cool healthy full individual, is much more convincing.
