1) This disturbing, painful attack on #Christchurch mosques is indeed hard to digest, but it is important not to frame this terrorist attack simply as an act of hate. It is the result of a specific, globally reaching ideology—a growing one that has gone largely undeterred
2) Manifesto allegedly of one of the attackers claims no specific movement, but shows NeoNazi inspiration and echoes attackers like Breivik: talk of “ethnic and cultural genocide,” warnings of “invasion” & “anti-white” forces, Neo Nazi-associated black sun symbol, etc.
3) This isn’t just hate, but an emboldened, hate-driven *movement*. Thus, we cannot productively discuss #NewZealandShooting w/o dissecting the "ethno-nationalist peoples" the attacker claims to represent in his manifesto, and the online networks in which they fester and spread.

BREAKING: The Sacramento DA just announced that two officers who shot and killed Stephon Clark for holding a cell phone they thought was a gun will not face criminal charges.
Our hearts go out to Mr. Clark’s friends and family, and the entire Sacramento community. #BlackLivesMatter

Families and friends of the 21 people who lost their lives in the Birmingham pub bombings are heading to the inquests into their deaths. The hearings could last five weeks.
The inquests are underway with the selection of a jury. Majority of press in an overflow room at Birmingham’s Civil Justice Centre due to major interest. Coroner makes it clear it could last up to eight weeks - but mostly likely six.
Coroner Peter Thornton begins his remarks by reminding the jury that this one hearing is about “21 separate lives lost from two terrible events in Birmingham.” A minutes silence is then held after the names of those killed are read out.

Today, we saw another horrific act of hate at a house of worship — this time, the murder of at least eight congregants at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue by a man who reportedly shouted “All Jews need to die” before he opened fire. splcenter.org/news/2018/10/2…
It reminds us of the slaughter of African American worshipers at Charleston’s Mother Emmanuel Church in 2015, the killings of Sikh worshipers in Oak Creek in 2014, and the bombing of Birmingham’s 16th Street Baptist Church in 1963 that left four young African American girls dead.
The violence in Pittsburgh follows on the heels of a string of attempted pipe bombings by a white supremacists who targeted frequent critics of President Trump.

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims of the most recent shootings.
