Burning question: which R&B groups from back in the day do you most wish were still putting out music? For me: Boys II Men, Jagged Edge, XScape, Jodeci & SWV. And I know they’re not a group but Case and Joe too.
Ok I left out Soul II Soul and TLC and my shame is real...
And love how we 90s R&B fans are getting wisdom from the true old school!

And those massive deficits would be used to justify demands for further cuts - to food stamps, Head Start, education, environmental protection & anything that helps poor and working people — while they keep cutting rich folks’ taxes, deficits be damned. That’s “starve the beast.”
You can call it “deconstructing the administrative state” like Bannon did or “drain the swamp” a la Reagan and Trump but it comes down to the same thing, and here I’ll quote @sarahkendzior - “stripping the nation for parts” so the rich pay near 0 tax & the poor are on their own.

Interesting that Club for Growth, a right wing anti-taxation/plutocrat defense outfit, is circulating a two-minute (a Russian novel in ad terms) hit ad calling out Beto O’Rourke for being a wealthy Scion of white privilege and comparing him unfavorably to ... Barack Obama.
The ad strikes me as one that could have been run against a Kennedy in the 1960s or 70s, but from the left. Very interesting show of the hand on what the right thinks the key soft spots of the potential Trump challengers are.
Especially since presumably, Club For Growth will be supporting wealthy son of privilege and arch Obama-hater Donald Trump for president in 2020.

One thing I think folks are missing in the 2020 conversation right now is what forces are shaping the primary. I am an activist, I am interested in moving candidates around a specific agenda. There is a reason diversity + inclusion are the entry point for this. (1/?)
Why do Democrats want to build a movement, as @AsteadWesley writes about today in NYT? Because that is where the winning base of the Democratic party is. Presidential candidates want to engage that base because they want their votes. nytimes.com/2019/03/18/us/…
Candidates want to co-opt the language and tactics of movement because that is where the wins have been for the last several years. The hottest issues, the hottest candidates, the most grassroots energy exist in movement on the Left, not in the Party apparatus itself.

1. Never Let Me Go; Kazuo Ishiguro: A supremely crafted narrative begins unassumingly, but quickly reveals a different notion of childhood innocence and coming of age. The conversational tone fooled me into thinking I was walking into a world I understood. Nobel worthy.
2. We Should All Be Feminists; Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: As an author who breathes eloquence, Adichie doesn't disappoint. This short book/long essay is insightful and logical and human. If we want to raise boys without the toxic masculinity, this is on the required reading list.

notice how he doesn’t mention liberals here, why? because Coates’ is almost universally praised and accepted by liberals

and to implicitly suggest some sort of joint conspiracy is really beneath Ta-Nehisi
leftists & feminists didn’t team up with white supreamcists. Richard Spencer capitalized on an opportunity to sow more division amongst our ranks
