1. Asked about faith last night, @ewarren invoked scripture.

She flubs the chapter — it’s Matt 25, not 26 — but then recites pieces from memory (including KJV verbiage) and offers an action-minded, social justice-focused theological interpretation.
2. For the curious, she articulated a longer but very similar version of this when speaking to a group of clergy last year in D.C. — and got the chapter right at the time. religionnews.com/2018/05/24/dem…
3. Also, the full version of the clip — which Warren tweeted out on her own account — cites her Methodism, and her past as a Sunday school teacher.

1. I mean, yes. This was a big part of Aaron Swartz’s activism back in, like, 2008 (e.g. see The Internet’s Own Boy on Netflix)

Easy access to federal court records is a crucial reporting tool, but it really shouldn’t cost the way it does now, period. politico.com/magazine/story…
2. For any reporter who has used PACER (including me), it’s a nightmare.

There’s like a whole plugin you can use for your browser (RECAP) that activists created to let you save PACER files into a freely accessible space because folks have been that miffed about it.
3. I’ve always been surprised that some company hasn’t swooped in and undercut PACER with a cheaper option.

But that kind of defeats the purpose of public records.

1. New from me: Two different investigations in the past few weeks have unveiled evidence suggesting that at least one faith leader and faith group have been targeted for surveillance by immigration officials — namely, @KajiDousa and the @NewSanctuaryNYC. religionnews.com/2019/03/20/imm…
2. The development is significant for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that faith leaders and faith groups make up a significant portion of immigrant rights activists — especially in recent months. religionnews.com/2018/12/21/fai…
3. New York’s faith-based New Sanctuary Coalition is *already* suing immigration officials over what it alleges are violations of their First Amendment rights.

When I asked its ED about the new revelations, he said: “It confirms what the lawsuit alleges.”

(HOWEVER: in fairness, perhaps @edstetzer wasn’t actually blaming the media but poking at others in his tweet. The data is still fascinating though!)

A few morning-after thoughts on last night's EU-US trade announcement. First up: bold move from the Commission. A big surprise to many including members of Congress and EU member states (and, rather less importantly, me). 1/n ft.com/content/b97410…
Some of the deal can easily be achieved as they are meaningless - the soybean and LNG parts, which the EU is already doing. If Trump continues to believe these are concessions he is v gullible indeed, and hats off to the Commission for fooling him. Let's no-one tell him, eh. 2/n
Some bits are clearly impossible & will have to be quietly forgotten to make deal work eg ending all non-tariff barriers & non-auto industrial subsidies. This wd mean wholesale dismantling of EU regulation. Zero subsidies also means no cash for Airbus or Boeing. Non-starter. 3/n

I’m seeing a lot of cable chatter about how Trump agreed to a summit with Kim Jong Un to distract from Stormy Daniels. Indeed, @donlemon asked me this last night. And I don’t really buy it. 2/
For one thing, Trump has already announced the tariffs on Thursday. That was plenty distracting, but the summit announcement stepped on that. And on Friday Trump got good job numbers. The summit walk back/non-walk back distracted from that as well. 3/

See? BIngo. Mueller is WAY smarter than the WH. Subpoena he sent is not a congressional one, he's a freaking prosecutor. Bannon has NO choice but to show up and talk, period. WH can do ZILCH about it. And this also provides COVER for Bannon to talk.
2. FBI showed up at Bannon's home and was then redirected to Bannon's lawyer, that he had retained just hours earlier. Reminder that the same lawyer, William Burck, also represents McGahn and Priebus.
3. Bannon could testify in front of the Grand Jury BEFORE THE END OF THIS MONTH, says one person familiar with the matter. Mueller didn't want to let the WH play ANY games, so he subpoenad Bannon.
