Spoke with a 60 year old man at a bar last night.

He’s been trying to get up the nerve to ask his crush out for 18 months...

We, as humans, have an uncanny ability to delay, over-analyze, and circumvent doing uncomfortable things. (1)

He’s afraid she’ll say no, and was asking me all sorts of ways to ask her out. While we were talking, I showed him a little exercise.

I asked out every girl I knew liked me and were single (there were three), after watching and showing him their IOI’s. (2)

Now I got no numbers, just two eye rolls and a “sorry, I’m really busy”, but I showed him that delaying asking a woman out does nothing but build stress, uncertainty, and paralyzes you from spinning other plates because of your “Oneitis”.

He’s putting all his faith in the “one”, and has put his entire life on hold analyzing her words and actions instead of taking several seconds to get an answer.

I told him to stop beating around the bush, and get an answer.

But I told him to not let a “no” devastate him, like it does to other blue pulled betas.

I was there. Several oneitis’s said no to me, and I was a wreck for months.

So much emotional investment is put in, hoping for the Hollywood happy ending. (5)

There’s happiness for men, I told him, but it’s in the realm of self improvement and purpose.

If you’re pinning your hopes on being happy by having a woman in your life, you need to unplug. Now.
