I’m so excited to announce that I am running to represent Maryland’s 5th Congressional District!

I’m running to fight for Affordable Housing and Medicare for All, because housing and healthcare are both fundamental human rights. I’m running to enact a Green New Deal, because we are the last generation who has a chance to prevent climate catastrophe.

I’m running to dismantle the Prison-Industrial and Military-Industrial Complexes. I’m running to expand and protect Voting Rights. I’m running to build worker power, protect immigrant communities, and so much more. (You can read my full platform here: mckayla2020.com)

By the time I was born, Steny Hoyer had already been in Congress for nearly a decade. In the time since then, he has failed to represent the people of Southern Maryland.

Instead, he has represented his primary donors: the fossil fuel industry, defense contractors, pharmaceutical companies, and the ultrawealthy. He doesn’t understand the toll of rising healthcare costs and our broken healthcare system.

He doesn’t understand the systemic racism which has defined the War on Drugs.He doesn’t understand the crippling cost of college or even the crippling cost of pre-K. He doesn’t understand the harm that U.S. imperialism has done and continues to do overseas.

I’m running a campaign that will be entirely of the people. I won’t be taking any corporate PAC money, but instead will be relying entirely on small donors. Anything you can do to help is massively appreciated! We have a lot of work to do.
