Inevitably, the traditional business model of games is going to evolve, just like music & cinema.

Gaming was one of the first cultural industry to go through dematerialization with Steam in 2003. So far, mainstream gaming is still on 2003's tech, while music & movies progressed.
Movies & music are immediately enjoyable anywhere today. For games we still have to:

- get the right hardware
- make enough space
- buy disc / long downloads
- lengthy installations
- regular patches

So today, we can't instantly play most games.

Here’s a little lesson in business registration for my US and Jamaican followers:

Most US companies are gusteres in Delaware because it has the most favourable laws for businesses AND “has a separate Court of Chancery to hear cases involving corporate law”

No corp taxes either

Jamaica is nothing like the USA.

I can register in a different state and do business across each state with certain registrations and/or licenses. The USA is a union of individual states.
Most entrepreneurs setup an S Corp or an LLC in their home state, mine is Florida (no personal income taxes so a pass-through entity is preferred and we have Homestead Exemption too).

But that is just at the startup phase to keep over head low.

Let’s begin with two businesses Nyamazone & Farmers Choice.

NyamaZone is a sole proprietor meat butchery started in 1980. His primary business is selling meat to customers but he also once in a while gets peak orders from hotels.

In a good year, he nets around 700,000 Kshs.
The second one is Farmers Choice also an LLC started in 1980 by Lonrho.

He's in the meat business & his primary business is selling to institutions & customers who buy from him in supermarkets.

In a good year, he nets around 20Mn Kshs.

Is this an unfair comparison? Let's see..

YUP. I have 2 big beefs:

• As @xander76 notes- blockchain can't do anything here that a centralized database wouldn't. That means using blockchain is about hype. Not results.
• Leafy greens are super perishable. By the time someone shows up sick at the hospital, whatever made them sick is eaten or rotten. You can't test it.

Tracing outbreaks is a lot easier w meat & other things where much of each lot is frozen & hangs out in inventory for months.
That means if somebody gets sick, there's still some meat from that lot somewhere that you can test.

With leafy greens, you can use traceability records to find a suspected lot. But you may never be able to test & confirm it.

#History/#Art thread – From my recent trip to Madurai/Tirunelveli. On Jain sites (some with a rich history dating back to at least the 3rd cent. BCE), early Pandyan rock-cut cave temples (7th-8th cent. CE) & the amazing Vettuvan koil.

Before I start on the places, the history around all this is fascinating & splits opinion. Is it apt to call the script Tamili/Tamil Brahmi? Did it develop independently in the Tamil country/come with the Jain monks from the north? Were 8,000 Jains actually impaled in Madurai?>
