This is one of the most fascinating books I’ve ever read.

I know there is a TV show going on about this, where a journalist found the place where the photo was taken. What is it called?

This African girl was exhibited in a human zoo in Brussels, Belgium, in 1958. The "exhibition" happened at the Brussels World’s Fair, where a Congolese village was displayed with the intention of "proving" Belgium's claim to have "civilized" the "primitive Africans."
The entrance of the exhibit featured a bust of King Leopold II, under whose colonial rule millions of Congolese died.

It had a reddish-brown color when it opened in 1889, and it was coated in yellow paint 10 years later.

As we celebrate #VeteransDay this year, on the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI, I am grateful for the moment to reflect on the veterans I have been blessed to interact with.
Yet these feelings of gratitude and honor we experience for those who have served our country should not be restrained to one day a year. Rather, we should use this day as a reminder to respect these brave men and women and their families through our words and actions every day.
To the roughly 150,000 veterans living in #Utah, thank you, and happy Veterans Day. Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office should you ever be in need of assistance.

PARS stands for “Preliminary Arraignment Reporting System.” It was created in the 90s to share arrest paperwork more quickly between @PhillyPolice, @philadao and @PhilaCourts. #endPARS
In 2008, city officials agreed to allow @ICEgov access to the system for a yearly fee. When ICE renewed the agreement in 2010, it agreed to let city officials withhold the information of victims and witnesses in arrest paperwork within PARS. #endPARS.
