I forget off-hand which logical fallacy it is when you attack people for something they aren't saying, but she's committing in spades. And it's going down like a bucket of warm sick based on the background mutters of discontent.
She's just called for the UK to leave with a "WTO Agreement", which I suspect is like requesting a hot iceberg.

Give it a whirl. You may be surprised... For instance, there have been 10 EU-funded projects and schemes over the years within a mile of my house. Stuff I would never have known about.
Before you say "it's our money", the EU through its regional development fund ensures that a good proportion of the funding goes to the most deprived areas - exactly the sort of places that successive UK Governments have turned their backs on.

Tory Junior Ministers conspired to deliberately and consciously sabotage the Brexit indicative vote process. Every day brings new heights of outrage!
And here's a list of 28 Tories who voted against all 8 proposals... Will they dare to do the same on Monday with the media and the country watching? (Stupid question: of course they will. They couldn't care less.)
If there's any justice this should tempt at least a few Tories, invested in the indicative vote process and determined to make it work, to vote down MV2.5 even if they supported MV2. At the moment, Brexit is like a football match where the referee, linesmen etc. are all dirty.

And that void has been dramatically exacerbated by Brexit, and its growth accelerates with every additional day of chaos and confusion.

Since the referendum, 48% of the electorate (and growing) have felt largely bereft.

One thing I’ve been ruminating on: why do so many people feel compelled to downplay & minimize the people hurt by advances in technology?

Why is the narrative of Forward Progress Forever™️ so sacrosanct?

What part of their identity does questioning it threaten?
Because if you look at the replies to my tweet about all technologies having negative space, you’ll see people having emotional reactions that surprise me in both their intensity, & their persistence in the face of further explanation.
This is partly introspection, because I minimize the downsides too - to the point that writing that thread felt like finally articulating something that had been bothering me for years about my _own_ behavior.

@AstorAaron @TheAtlantic @davidfrum That may feel good. In reality, the problem is US. It's apathy. We complain or sit out because we don't get our way. Congress is elected by US. If voter participation is < 50%, we deserve the congress we get. Unless we take power with 60-70% participation, it stays as is #vote.

1. Only have elections every two years
2. This includes all local ones too - city council, school board, etc
3. Make sure that local elections are in the same years as national ones
4. Then get out and vote every 2 years - no excuses!

1. 2020, we need to control the states that will give us the majority of the electoral votes
2. This means we need to win governorships and state legislatures
3. So we can determine redistricting
4. Be inclusive/aware of demographic trends for redistricting.

If you're not paying attention to the problem creeping out of the critical theory academic departments, you need to start. This is a major international scandal that mostly gets ignored because academia seems weird and removed.
This is a problem that is really deeply underappreciated. Every time I try to talk to everyday people about it, they say, "who cares? why do you care about this?!" Then I say "check your privilege, white person," and they rant. Then I say, "footnote, McIntosh, 1988."
Then they forget again and think it's just a bunch of academics being goofs, or "weird science" that shouldn't be funded (it's actually humanities, and most of it doesn't get grants and is paid for by the teaching appointments). "White fragility." Rant. "DiAngelo, 2011."
