With Supa Strikaz gone there's a void in the local industry where new artists would find an entry point to the market and eventually go on to create their own titles or find greener pastures elsewhere.
This is a pretty good opportunity for a comic book publisher to form up or step up to the plate. And create a new era of home grown comic books.
The readership is obviously there and so too is the talent. The greater hurdle going forward as with most publications is the sponsorship to churn out those massive print runs.

Though there are a few alternatives to this.
More evidence for the proof of concept is all the new titles that spring up at @FanConComicCon and @ComicConAfrica et al.
The worst case scenario is that each of the creator owned books plateaus because they have maxed out their reach, visibility, print funds and ultimately the incentive to keep creating into the void with immaterial growth.
Not to mention the "cost-progression trap" for the individual. I just made that up now but I studied commerce trust me.
This can be defined as a long run decision making issue that relates to either printing new issue 1 or earlier issues of the series for new reader of the content. Vs, printing the more current issues for those who have been following along as a fan Base.
It's not so bad 4-5 issues in. But when you get to the double digits. To whom do you cater to? Limited funds making us choose between hell and high water.
The comic kwezi did a smart thing by focusing on collectors editions. Shifting their cost progression curve back.
But also ultimately they don't personally handle their stock and being in bookshops means they can come to conventions with just the latest edition without worrying about losing the sale.
Book publishers really are key in maintaining sales all year round. So the question who is going to step up and fill the void.

I'm giddy thinking about it. African comic books are in their Renaissance and really all bets are off as the scene continues to explode.
