Search this tweet and check how many major accounts and members of the media spread it over the last few days. Even Presidential candidates.

It is blatantly false. It's from May 2018 and the "animals" comment is in reference to MS-13. Me at the time:
Even Oliver Darcy at CNN called it out at the time: money.cnn.com/2018/05/17/med…
This isn't a few random people on Twitter spreading this obvious lie, it's major figures in the media and in politics.
I mean what is CNN reporter @mkraju doing spreading a tweet with a lie that CNN debunked almost a year ago?

The problem is these mistakes aren’t taken seriously, which encourages people to repeat them and forgot they happened.
And now you have members of Congress and Presidential candidates spreading this lie.
I mean how is it that a bunch of news outlets like the AP got it wrong a year ago, had to retract, and now you have the same false claim go viral with the help of media personalities yet again?

That wouldn’t happen if the press took these sorts of mistakes seriously.
And the fallback of "well he shouldn't even say that about the gang members who have been killing in and terrorizing countless (mostly minority) neighborhoods" isn't the winning argument that you think it is.
P.s. here is the full video, including the question specifically referencing MS-13:
Hundreds of thousands of shares later, the original user deleted and and chose to correct. Many of the large accounts/reporters/politicians that chose to spread the false claim have yet to correct.
