The new addition, Penelope, is making a bid to become indoor/outdoor. But cat mommy has a line in the sand.
Edgar, 12, and his late sister Phrancyne were always indoor cats, until about 7 years ago when I had some home reno done and the crew just threw the doors open for a couple weeks. I’d hoped it would work the other way, and Penelope would help me re-indoor Edgar. But no. 😞
Edgar’s actually more insistent about spending the night outside now. Not sure if that’s just normal it’s-warm-again behavior, or bc Penelope likes to get on the bed in pre-sleep time and he doesn’t want to share.
This is the first day she’s door-positioned like that. Or even been curious. Rn I’m holding a firm position, but Penelope’s just

So what was her breaking point? Or is she just trying to dodge contempt charges, for losing all those little children and failing to meet the court’s deadline to reunite them?
My super space #beans is that WH will move Betsy De Vos into this role, bc her radical Christian orphanage trafficked a lot of these kids out into the atmosphere, and no one else wants to take the hit.

Suffering from that Koch/Mercer pipe dream that “marketplace ingenuity and the invisible hand” will fix things all by itself? Well, that’s how the opiate epidemic came to WV and crushed it so flat. The Sacklers used their marketplace ingenuity, and the invisible hand took over.
People with no hope for jobs invested in the only business opportunity available - getting opiate prescriptions and selling them to their neighbors’ kids. Opiate devastation is one of the purest examples of “invisible hand” thinking applied to the wrong article - public welfare.
No, really, Ayn Rand stans - clear the mud from your eyes. Even Adam Smith, original capitalist theorist, knew that price/demand interplay was not a magic panacea for every social ill. Yet here we are, centuries later, deifying saps who think so.

This is what happens when half the ppl in government are there for the express purpose of proving that government is worthless, courtesy of Koch Bros. Tea Party campaign funding that has captured and laid to waste much of WV.
They had grants. They had recipients. Nothing, or little, was done. On purpose. They let lives be wasted to prove an ideological theory that government is bad and should be abolished in favor of . . .what? Despotism? Pillaging by the powerful? I guess.
A concrete example of why reclaiming state and local governments should be as much a priority for progressive coalitions as reclaiming and restoring law to the national level.

From a student: I’m having a super hard time in grad school right now. I think it’s partially due to this atmosphere-like idea that everyone is working toward the same goal, of excelling in academia. 1/3
All of the support systems and opportunities are designed to further an academic career. There’s not much opportunity to learn about other subfields within the same program or other professional skills. 2/3

The second wave of Euro-Siberian extinctions affected mostly the northern latitudes, where extinctions occurred from 15,000 to 6,000 years ago and claimed the woolly mammoth, the woolly rhinoceros, the cave lion, and the European giant deer.
Southern species also disappear from Europe after hundreds of thousands of years, such as the leopard (which got cornered in the Caucasus) and the spotted hyena that disappeared from all of Eurasia and survived only in Africa. The dhole survived in Iberia until ~5000 years ago.
In North America, the first collapses occurred less than 15,000 years ago, some thousands of years before the Bering land bridge, Beringia, that linked it to Eurasia disappeared.

It was a Friday night, I stayed back at work after everyone had left, to run the organization's server updates, so that no bugger in the form of a director or any member of staff working weekends would bother my weekend. I checked my laptop to see the movies I was downloading...
and added more to the download. Damn! I loved my job as an I.T. guy, perks- the best WiFi for free!!!, now before you scuff at me, I understand your resentment for I.T. guys & especially H.R., well, in my case I was different. I was not one to hide the good WiFi password from you
if you asked, I was not one to tell you to pay tens of thousands to install an Antivirus program that the company paid for, & I also was not one to smile mischievously or frown when called upon to attend to a colleague's system, I did it all with joy, and that made me very loved
