The bill (HR 1644) survived an onslaught of amendments pushed by the telecom lobby, while more than 5 million people tuned in to a marathon of livestreams sounding the alarm about the vote. BattleForTheNet.com

THREAD: There have been a lot of inaccurate reports that the FCC's repeal of #NetNeutrality will officially go into effect next week on April 23rd. That's not true. It's a bit more complicated than that. Ready? Here we go:
Its understandable many journos are confused by this. I's legitimately confusing. The FCC order said it would go into effect 60 days after publication in the Federal Register, which would have been April 23rd. But, it still has to be approved by the Office of Management & Budget
There was another FCC filing in the Federal Register that would imply the earliest the OMB could approve this (and its worth noting that approval is basically just a technicality) is actually April 27th, but its likely to happen some time after that, possibly even weeks after.

Trump & @AjitPaiFCC's resoundingly unpopular repeal of #NetNeutrality *just* went into effect. But dozens of states are fighting back. Substantively, the California bills are the best ones in the country, hands down. But they're in serious danger of getting gutted or voted down.
The bills already passed the California State Senate, despite fierce lobbying from monopoly ISPs like AT&T and Comcast. They're playing dirty, hiring up tons of contract lobbyists in Sacramento and flooding California lawmakers with misinfo-- lies. With lies.

With so many calls to contact your reps on so many issues these days, it’s easy to be overwhelmed.

Here is a short primer on how to best contact them, and the most effective ways to go about doing that.
👉Calling your reps is best.

There are many ways to contact reps. Mail, email, social media and online petitions are supplementary, but staffers agree that calling is the best way to get attention. Other methods are often ignored, but calls must be answered.
👉Contact only your reps.

It can be tempting to contact reps who are not yours, especially leadership, but reps are only accountable to their own constituents. Those are the people who vote for them.

Remember, you have 2 Senators and 1 Congressman.
