The govt’s Dec 2018 report on terror threats in Canada used dangerous & unsubstantiated language about Muslim and Sikh communities, and severely downplayed the threat of far-right extremism. @nccm @iclmg @WorldSikhOrg & others called on Min. @RalphGoodale to address this.

While the review is encouraging and changes in language are important, we remain concerned about the content and balance of the report which is still publicly available. In a letter sent to @RalphGoodale today, @nccm called on his office to:
(1) rectify the downplaying of far right extremism in the report; (2) explain why so-called “Sikh extremism” was included in the report in the first place, without justification
(3) provide greater transparency on what communities can expect to see in the ongoing language review process being undertaken by his staff; (4) Take down the online report until the review is complete so as not to spread dangerous misinformation about our communities.
