THREAD:

I got tagged in a meme about Frozone recently, and it got me thinking that instead of doing “The Incredibles 3” (which Pixar hasn’t announced yet, but “The Incredibles 2” made over a billion dollars, so you know they have ideas), Pixar should do a Frozone spinoff. 1/?
So, let’s spitball the idea.

“The Incredibles” has always been about family, right? Like, they have these superpowers and that’s cool, but the point of the first movie always seemed to be “see what this family can do when they work together”. 2/?
And yet, Frozone doesn’t have a family. His wife is heard, but not seen, and as far as I can remember, there’s no talk of them having kids. 3/?
Which brings me to my “what if” scenario. What if Frozone CAN’T have kids? And what if the reason for that is directly tied to his powers – IE maybe his sperm are literally frozen. So he has these amazing powers, but they come with a terrible drawback. 4/?
Also, remember what Frozone’s wife said in “The Incredibles”? “I’m the greatest good you’re ever going to get!” That could be a reference to infertility. No kids, so she will always be the best thing in his life. 5/?
But that’s all exposition. So the story proper would open with Frozone and his wife having moved to a new town, which could happen for any number of reasons, but the point is that the Parrs aren’t around so it can just be a Frozone story. 6/?
In this town, the battles between superheroes and villains have caused a lot of damage over the years, but instead of Supers having just been banned like the franchise has already dealt with, this time they’ve actually been hunted down, captured... 7/?
and are being held captive in prisons that are technologically advanced enough to nullify their powers. 8/?
However, this doesn’t extend to children. Partly because the red tape and legal ramifications of locking up a bunch of children would be a nightmare to deal with... 9/?
but mainly because as children, their powers haven’t fully developed yet and they’re not strong enough to cause all that much damage. 10/?
But as soon as they do, they eventually get hunted down like the rest, so the city has this problem of teenage Supers living in fear of their powers and trying to stay hidden. 11/?
The town has lived like this for a while, but with no Supers around to protect it, the criminals have been upping their game. There’re more of them, and they’re more dangerous than ever. 12/?
The police have been coping OK, but the problem is getting worse and worse, and more criminals are escaping justice. 13/?
When Frozone comes to town and starts using his powers to capture these criminals, the townspeople and city council are a bit miffed that there’s a new Super out there, but when they see all the good that he’s doing and the difference he’s making, they’re OK with it. 14/?
They have one Superhero, and his ice eventually just melts away anyway, so it’s really no big deal. 15/?
Now, when he’s not out being a Superhero, Frozone starts up a school for all these young Supers whose parents have been locked up. Akin to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, this would focus on teaching the kids how to control their powers to their best effect. 16/?
Through this, Frozone would start to find the family his powers have always denied him. And thus we would start to see the “lesson” of this particular movie... 17/?
that there are a lot of definitions of “family”, and sometimes it isn’t what you’re born into, but what you make yourself. 18/?
But every superhero movie needs a villain, and because great villains often emulate the hero in some way, but are also opposite, the obvious thing to do is make the villain someone with fire-based powers. 19/?
For their secret identity, they’re the chief of police, which lends some credence to Supers being hunted and their children basically abandoned. 20/?
Maybe they come after Frozone because they don’t want another Super on their turf, but also because they’re getting heat from the Mayor’s office about Frozone seeming to have taken over the police’s job, which gives the battle a personal element. 21/?
And because fire melts ice, Frozone has to come up with some creative ways to beat this villain, which leads to the first couple of battles ending in some kind of draw. 22/?
Frozone only gets the upper hand and beats the villain in the final act because he gets help from his students – and Edna Mode, who has been monitoring Frozone from afar and brings the students some really cool supersuits. 23/?
But during that battle, we see that some students have mastered their powers, and others are still struggling, because that’s an accurate representation of people learning at a different pace, regardless of age or apparent skill. 24/?
Like maybe the kid who would seem to have the most powerful superpower can’t figure it out and the one who has what would seem to be the most useless is actually the most help in the final battle because they figured out a really awesome and creative way to use their power. 25/?
(Lesson number two: It’s not what you’re born with that makes you who you are, it’s what you do with your life.) But the point is they’re all out there giving it a go, and that’s because of the difference Frozone made in their lives. 26/?
And maybe during that battle, you see one kid who’s really struggling with their powers, getting more and more angry because they feel they should be able to control them by now. 27/?
Maybe that kid resents Frozone because they feel he didn’t do enough to help them, so instead they decide to run away until they can control their powers. 28/?
Then, in a post-credits stinger, we see they’ve found a way to do this, and are going to take their revenge on Frozone by attacking the one thing he used to care about most – the Parr family. Now you have your setup into “The Incredibles 3”. 29/29
