My four-year old son is taking the fact that he's "both Palestinian and Pakistani" very literally. He now calls his right hand "Palestine" and his left hand "Pakistan".
Sometimes Palestine and Pakistan play-fight, but I interpret this as the boy struggling to resolve his identity.
(Like, it only took his father 40 years to resolve *his* identity, good luck with the journey son)

This may seem almost comical in its buffoonery, but make no mistake, it's the language of apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and, of course, the most extreme forms of right wing, ethnic nationalism. Never mind that it's based on a second-grader level understanding of history.
These are Israel's ruling elites, and they know that while their state is heading more precipitously to the right, key segments of the world are heading to the left. Israel's future is one of apartheid but also one of increasing friction, and eventually isolation, from the world.
Their only friends in the region are our tyrants - the very tyrants we will eventually, sooner or later, uproot. Israel's ally in the region is repression, and it's betting on continuing repression. Freedom for people like me, anywhere, is a threat to them.

Here's a reminder to my friends (and to everyone else really) that neutrality in times of moral crisis isn't honorable, it's deeply shameful. To be neutral when faced with disastrous evil is to side with evil. Do not afford anyone respect if he says he's "neutral" like that.
We think of "sacrifice" as sacrificing one's time, one's money, one's liberty, one's safety, one's life. But there's another kind of sacrifice we must be aware of: Sacrificing one's social standing, one's reputation, one's social circle for what's right. So few take that path.
You can "refuse to take sides" - but you cannot refuse to take a moral stance. You can "refuse to endorse any side", but you cannot refuse to endorse your values. You can "refuse to stand with either faction" but you cannot refuse to stand with principles.

Re Mueller report: Big picture, the obstruction charge is directly connected to the conspiracy. In a way the entire obstruction saga shows consciousness of guilt re conspiracy - why would someone go to such extents to cover up something that "never happened"?
Having read voraciously about this since the release of the report, it's very clear to me that the reason conspiracy charges weren't brought was that the level of proof wasn't met. As anybody who remembers the OJ Simpson trial knows, that does NOT mean innocence.
Putin conspired to get Trump into the White House. MBZ, MBS, and Bibi helped. Trump's campaign conspired right back. Mueller couldn't find enough evidence not because they didn't do it, but because the bar was set too high, and they covered up after themselves well.

Below is the summary of my findings.

Miraculously, I have one photo of the Range Rover’s rear plate. This is it. Note that six letters are visible, but there is a piece of what looks like window tint tape obscuring half of the last letter.(From what I can see there are only four options for the last letter: B,D,P,R.
Rookie cop: “This is only a partial plate. I’m not going to run a partial plate [thru our system to identify the driver].”
Me: “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me, it’s just one letter! … I *have to* file a police report, I have a Top Secret security clearance...” Rookie, interjecting: “Do you have proof of that?” [and we have a winner for idiotic question of the day!]
