Arms
Legislature
Executive
Judiciary
Levels
Centre
State
Local bodies
Each one is related
But
Have distinct purposes
Each one collect seperate taxes too
Sometimes purpose and taxes overlap
For example
If you want a rule that Paediatricians must be given ten acres of govt land to start a hospital it is the duty of the legislature to form this rule
Or
If you want to remove the rule that "you need licence to buy guns"
Again legislature
Executive has to merely carry out this rule
When the legislature has passed and act to give ten acres govt land to paediatrician
The executive has to identify the land and give patta for you
Suppose the executive gives only 5 acres
Then you can go to judiciary
The job of Legislature, Executive and Judiciary are clear-cut
And
Now coming to three levels of government
Here too
They have divided
Few for centre eg Military
Few for state eg Police
Few for Local Bodies eg water supply
Few areas are shared
Eg Army
Those areas where state govt alone can act are called state list
Eg Police
Those areas where there is an overlap between state and center are called concurrent list
Eg education
If you want a rule that says everyone should serve in military, only central govt can bring law for it
It is where your MP comes to play
If you want a rule that says everyone should work in police for two years
State govt has to bring a law
It is your MLA Job
You want water supply to your home 24x7
you want drainage to he underground only in your area
You want street lamps in all streets
The local body acts here
Your councillor decides how many hours your home will have water
Or
How many streets will have lamp
Your commissioner implements it
You want street light in all streets
Whom should you ask
Your councillor
Your local body has set standards that all streets should have lights but your street does not have
Whom should you ask
Your commissioner.
Neither of this is your MP job
@SureshKrShukla
There is a primary school within 20 km of your home
You want that to be changed to "a primary school must be available within 2 km"
Ask your MLA
There is a rule
But
No school.yet
Ask your district education officer
You want to make it 10% or 30 %
This is your MPs job
Professional tax has to be reduced
It is your councillor job
So
List down all your needs
Then put a hyphen and write which arm of govt it comes and which level of govt it comes
Vote for the candidate
If it comes at state Assembly level
Look at the party manifesto for assembly Election
Vote for symbol of the party whose manifesto you want to be implemented
Don't even care about candidate
If it comes at state parliament level
Look at the party manifesto for assembly Election
Vote for symbol of the party whose manifesto you want to be implemented
Don't even care about candidate
That's all
Symbol is important for Lok Sabha and assembly
Not individual
Your demand / wishlist / dream
Does not fall under legislature
But
Under other arms of govt
Then
You have to solve that then and there
And not wait for elections
Elections are for policy making
Vote for symbols in Lok Sabha, Assembly
Individuals in local bodies
You are voting to decide the policy or government regarding finance, military etc
You are not going to select
Mayor
Union Chairman
Councillor
Head master
DSP
Collector
Sanitary inspector
EB wireman
With your vote for Lok Sabha
