Although of course I don't want it to happen in real life, I'd be so curious--if we could run the experiment on some kind of simulator, say--to know how many of the ones who are left after this would draw the line at "shooting people on Fifth Avenue."

A Pew study on views of the news media in France finds the French unusually distrustful of the press. journalism.org/2019/04/23/vie… An interesting age gap: 73% under 30 trust Le Monde; only 38% percent over 50 do.
Sweden and Germany were the most trustful of the 8 countries studied. I wonder to what extent answers to the question measure the same thing: Might it be that skepticism is more highly valued, generally, in France?
But France also has the highest level of trust in the military of all the countries surveyed. (It also has the biggest and most capable military. I'd place more trust in the French military than the military of any of the other countries surveyed, too.)

Well, it's a strong endorsement of the tent, I'll give you that. But what's the point of living in a 7-cat household if you find it relaxing to be in a cat-free zone? The only way to be at peace in a 7-cat house is to accept that it's theirs, all of it.
You'll always have cat fur over everything you own. They'll eat all the houseplants, then piss in the soil. You'll never sleep past dawn. There's no point buying expensive things, ever. Just accept it. That's how you achieve peace.

2. I've had one main email address for years now. It becomes your username a thousand places, and it's a major pain in the ass to change it.
I've been riding the internet since before it was born, back in the Compuserve days.
3. And everybody wants your email address. It's better than your Social Security number for knowing your real life. Somebody with your email address and a high level over data mining skills knows everything there is to know about you.
