Horrified by the synagogue shooting? Here are 18 things you can do tonight to help heal the world the Jewish way:

#1: donate to the San Diego synagogue Go Fund Me:

#2 donate to a local Jewish organization, synagogue, or Chabad house.

#3 send a letter of support to a local Jewish organization, synagogue, or Chabad house, with or without a donation.

#4 recite a chapter of Tehilim (Psalms) in honor of the 60 year-old woman who was murdered
#5 if you are a member of a church, synagogue or mosque, reach out to the leadership and offer to host an extra guest at your Shabbat table or other weekly religious gathering.

#6 if you are not, make a donation to support the hosting of community meals or to a local food bank.
#7 donate to a group that fights anti-Semitism, locally, nationally, or internationally. The @ADL is a good option.

#8 donate to groups that fight white supremacy, racism and Islamophobia.
#9 donate to a local organization that delivers home cooked meals to hospital patients in honor of the living but injured shooting victims.

#10 read The Banality of Evil by Hannah Arendt.

#11 Learn a religious text for 18 minutes.
#12 call your loved ones. Hold those within hugging distance tight.

#13 call out bigotry when you see and hear it, especially when you see and hear it from those same loved ones.

#14 read something short that the @Chabad rebbe wrote.

#15 maybe something a bit longer
#16 listen to American Jewish voices telling you about how this tragedy impacts us. Read @JTAnews, @jdforward, @tabletmag, @NYJewishWeek, @Chabad, @themishpacha, @HamodiaUS, etc before turning to your go-tos on this one.

#17 Don’t let non-Jews or non-Americans speak over us.
#18 open your eyes wide to (other) minorities in your local community — and ask yourself what more you could be doing, how you could leverage your power, to support them (/ each other).
#19 Honor the memory of Lori Gilbert-Kaye with a gift to @Chai_Lifeline, which helps support families with very sick children:

The last @chabad rebbe (the leader of a Hasidic movement) knew too much about grief.

Here’s part of his response to a terror attack in a Chabad village and Israel and his advice to Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel:

If you prefer to make a donation directly instead of through @gofundme , this is the official @Chabadpoway donation site:

chabadpoway.com/templates/fund…
According to relatives of the shluchim (emissaries who run the @chabad house and synagogue), this link above is the preferred (and most verified) way to donate to @Chabadpoway:

chabadpoway.com/templates/fund…
I've confirmed both fundraisers are legit. The @gofundme was started by a 15 year-old who wanted to help as soon as possible and gives me hope for the future.

In his words, the only thing worse than a tragedy is “when you can’t do anything about it.”
