I’m v uncomfortable saying that some ways of paying attention are better than others. “Time well spent” is too close to the idea that individual productive flow is nirvana, rather than, say, psychological safety, escapism, idle curiosity, relaxed time with loved ones, etc. etc.

A couple of months ago I was at a silver service dinner with a hugely smart and capable woman from the US, who I admire hugely. (She’ll know who she is.) Now, British and European people live with, and maybe enjoy, the paralysing cultural fear of using the wrong fork, glass, etc.

For the platforms - Facebook, Google, Amazon - ethics has to be about minimising negative impact. In the middle, where most businesses sit, ethical AI should be about leaving no trace; leaving society as you found it, without making new inequalities or deepening existing ones.
Believe it or not, the most complex category is businesses who want to make actively society better, because in doing that, choices are made. Who is it better for? Other than the SDGs, almost nothing is better for everyone. This is a political choice.

Wondering what the consequences of more sustainable living (esp. less packaging and convenience) will be for gender equality, and who is writing on and thinking about that...
Also how the gender optics of e.g. going to the wholesalers with big containers will pan out. Will it feel more like exciting masculine survivalism, I wonder, or will it be a double dose of care - for the planet AND your family/community - so be extra uncool?
One of the most striking things about the *brilliant* BBC show Back in Time for Dinner bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05… was how much convenience, packaged (and, yes) processed food was a factor in giving women the time to go to work in the 70s and 80s and “have it all”.

There are four words in the english language that in relation to brexit I want to stop fucking hearing

Respect
Honour
Referendum
Democracy
And there is a very simple reason I want to stop hearing them

Because they are hollow

Join me below as we follow the evolution of those who parrot those 4 words

Now I know this is difficult

But this requires several things

A respect for the rule of law

And a blind fold
So the leave campaign used a red bus.
The red bus was a lie.
A lie on many levels.
The number was a lie.
The promise was a lie.

Of course you get those who say “Let's fund the NHS instead” was actually a promise.

It was a suggestion, an implication.

Towards the end of the video, they discuss information being over classified and slow walking FOIA requested documents. Timely since I filed a FOIA for my own stuff in early 2016. #ReinstateRobynGritz
Then they said l, “complex requests in the large processing track are currently averaging approximately 774 days for processing.” So I limited the scope of my request.
Yesterday I received an email from the FBI & my request is still not done. “After the scope of your request was reduced to those files, the request remained in the large track. We appreciate your continued patience while your request is processed.”
